Evanston tried to slow down star Niles North senior guard Aquan Smart. They were somewhat successful as he went 14 for 34 from the field to get his 36 points. The Wildkits had five players in double figures led by junior guard Daeshwan Hemphill who had 22 points with former Niles North guard junior Elijah Bull with 18, junior guards Jaylin Gibson and Blake Peters 13 apiece and Isaiah "Itchy" Holden with 10. Peters and Gibson had 7 rebounds, Holden had 5. Niles North led 22-19 after the first quarter and 41-39 at halftime. Evanston made their move in the third quarter outscoring the Vikings 22-15 in the third quarter with Peters hitting three free throws after getting foul shooting a three for a 61-56 lead going into the fourth quarter. Evanston could never get the lead past 10 points because of bad foul shooting in the quarter and three consecutive turnovers early in the fourth quarter. The closest Niles North was able to cut the lead to was five but Evanston held on. Sophomore guard Yosef "Yogi" Oliff had 14 in an attempt to help out Smart in the scoring column. Evanston runs it's record to 14-0 and play Niles West on Friday in conference play, then a non conference game vs Mather(Chicago) on Saturday at home. Niles North drops to 12-3 and is at Highland Park on Friday in conference play.
