These were considered the top two teams in the Chicago Public League preseason. Curie lived up to it all year, while Lincoln Park took a bumpy road but still ended up here. Made history making title game for first time in 122 years. This game was sloppy, bad shooting, lots of turnovers, instense atmosphere with a huge crowd. Both bands were here and played some bumping music. Lots of luminaries honored from Mark Aguirre, to 2005-2006 Simeon State Title teams that featured Derrick Rose, and Jimmy "IN THE GYM" Smith. Onto the game. Lincoln Park stayed in contact most of the game, cutting it to one a couple of times but couldn't get over the hump. Senior Justin Oliver made clutch plays from a coule of lobs to fellow senior Kendall Holliday, to scoring himself. Senior big man Keith Collins crashed the glass as well as senior Saquan Commings making clutch plays on both ends. Collins came off the bench when senior Joshua Hurley got into early foul trouble and crashed the offensive glass. Curie led 22-18 after one, 29-23 at recess, and 40-35 after three. Lincoln Park was hurt by senior forward Larry Harris being in foul trboule all night, as well as getting beat on the glass to the tune of 31-22 for the game. Justin Oliver's steal and dunk with 2 minutes left clinched it.
Curie ups it's record to 28-1 and goes into State Playoffs as #1 seed in Class 4A Mount Carmel (Chicago) Sectional. Lincoln Park drops to 20-8 and goes into the State Playoffs as #6 seed in Loyola Academy (Wilmette) Sectional.
NOTE: Curie also won the Junior Varsity title to double up.
