Big Tim's Chicago Area Player of The Year is Jaxson Davis of Warren Township (Gurnee)!!!!!

Writer: Big TimBig Tim

This young man is just a sophomore, the first one ever named player of the year by me. There were a lot of worthy candidates, but no one stood out from the rest for most of the season. Davis grabbed the reins in this playoff run to the title game, where they lost by one point to Benet Academy (Lisle). I'll add he played sick this weekend and was outstanding in both semifinals and title game.

JAXSON DAVIS, 6'1" 165 pound sophomore point guard, Warren Township (Gurnee), 68th ranked nationally by 247 sports, 19th ranked point guard, 3rd ranked player in Illinois in class. 80th ranked nationally by on3.com, 3rd ranked player in Illinois in class. Travel team Meanstreets (Nike EYBL Circuit)

I'll first say he's criminally underrated nationally, and he's proven to be better than his peers over the first two years of his career. True floor general plays beyond his years. Plays at his own speed, can't be sped up, knows how to play with pace. Doesn't waste dribbles, gets the ball up the court on fast break without a dribble. Three point shot has improved, the lefty knocks them down from 23 feet and in. Hits them off the dribble or off the catch. Finishes at the rim through contact with eiter hand and creates a lot of and one opportunities. Defends on the ball at a high level, and uses his intelligence to sneak in and get steals off the ball. High IQ player who uses it to give his team unique opportunities on both ends of the court. Quick hands on the ball to reach in and get steals without fouling. Penetrates and drops off perfect passes to teammates for layups or kickouts for open three point shooters. Creative with the ball on a string rarely gets the ball stolen from him. Clutch preformer gets it done with big buckets, or nice passes for easy baskets to teammates. Knows when he needs to make the big play for his team. Had to carry a big load mis season as senior Javerion Banks was out a month with injury. In a short time he's become a legend in Lake County High School basketball. To add he has two more years of high school basketball left. Best floor general in the sophomore class in high school basketball. High academic young man. Young man just wants to win, doesn't care about the stats.
