Big Tim's Chicago Area Player of The Year is Morez Johnson Jr of Thornton Township (Harvey)!!!!!!

I've had Illinois commit Morez Johnson Jr as my #1 player in Class of 2024 for three years now. He started at St Rita (Chicago) and played there for three years, then transferred to Thornton Township. Had a very productive senior year hence Big Tim's 5th annual Chicago Area Player of The Year. Here we go:

MOREZ JOHNSON JR, 6'9" senior forward, Thornton Township (Harvey), 28th ranked by 247 composite (combination of all major national ranking services. #1 ranked win Illinois by 247 composite, 7th ranked center in 247 composite.

Illinois commit plays hard on the interior. Posts up hard on the block, has a nice turnaround jump hook in the lane. Finishes everything at the rim with force, rather it's a two hand dunk. or a one hand dunk. Hits the glass on both ends with full force. A double/double machine. Changes ends of the court with a quickness and out runs other big men and gets a lot of rim runs to the basket. Great finisher when he rim runs with a rattling dunk. Has developed a nice mid range jump shot from 15 feet. Rim protects as a shot blocker and shot changer at the rim. Hardest working man in the high school basketball business. He was able to open up his game a little more this year and shoot more threes off pick and pop, or as the trailer on the fast break. Is good defending the pick and roll, hard for guards to put him on an island and drive by him, or shoot a three over him. Led Thornton Township (Harvey) to their first sectional title in 14 years. Team had a 29-5 record advancing to the supersectional. Won the tough Southland Conference title with a 11-1 record. Averaged 20 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 blocks, and 3 steals a game. Had 28 double/doubles over the year. Snubbed for McDonald's All-American game as his ranking was right on the cusp of the game. Jordan Brand All-American, Nike Hoop Summit Invitee, Allen Iverson Classic All-American.
