Big Tim's Final Super 25 in Chicago Area for the season!!!!!

State Finals are over and we have champions, two from the Chicago Area and one enters the poll. Preseason ranking will be in parenthesis. Here we go:



1) Marist (Chicago) (33-5) (4): Wins Class 4A title in dominant fashion blowing out previous #1 Benet Academy (Lisle) in title game. First title. Beat York Community (Elmhurst) in semifinal, and Richwoods (Peoria) in supersectional. Great performances by senior NC State football commit Stephen Brown and fellow senior Charles Barnes Jr. Loses Brown and Barnes in addition to guards Adoni Vassilaki, TJ Tate and wing Karson Thomas. Scheduled to return Kendall Meyers and Jace Bullock.



2) Benet Academy (Lisle) (36-2) (2): Finshed Class 4A runners-up after winning the title last season. Beat DePaul College Prep (Chicago) in semifinal and Auburn (Rockford) in supersectional. Loses North Dakota State commit Colin Stack, Eastern Illinois commit Jayden Wright, Ethan MacDermot, and Ryan Walsh. Scheduled to return are starters Edvardas Stasys and Perry Tchiegne along with Blair Fagbemi.



3) DePaul College Prep (Chicago) (33-4) (1): Finished third in Class 4A as first time in four years they didn't win a title. Fifth straight state finals appearances. Beat Hersey (Arlington Heights) in supersectional and York Community (Elmhurst) in third place game. Loses four year performers Toledo commit Rashaun Porter, and Michigan Tech commit AJ Chambers along with Brown commit Rykan Woo and Zion Lee. Scheduled to return starters Gus Johnson, Blake Choice (will be a junior).




4) York Community (Elmhurst) (32-6) (unranked): Finished fourth in Class 4A in their first state trophy ever and best season in school history. Beat St Ignatius College Prep (Chicago) in overtime in supersectional. Lost to Marist (Chicago) in semifinal and DePaul College Prep (Chicago) in third place game. Could contend next season with three starters scheduled back. Loses starters Princeton commit Hunter Stephanich and Jackson Rennick as well as Costa Kampas. Scheduled to return Joseph Lubbe, Nathan Poku, and Will O'Leary (will be a junior). Also top reserve Sawyer Asgedom.



5) St Ignatius College Prep (Chicago) (31-5) (15): Had a good mix of youth and veterans on team. Lost to York Community (Elmhurst) in supersectional. Could contend next season. Loses Yale commit Chris Bolte, and Nico Harris. Return Amir Tucker (will be a junior), Duke Ross, DJ Caldwell (will be a junior), Walker Ross (will be a junior), Chris Chittaro, and Joseph Hall (will be a junior).


6) Kankakee (29-2) (5): Regional champ in Class 3A. Loses entire starting lineup. Indiana State commit EJ Hazelett, Lincoln Williams, Myair Thompson, CedrIc Terrell III, Kenaz Jackson Jr.


7) Curie (Chicago) (29-2) (7): Won Chicago Public League Red Title. Regional Champ in Class 4A. Coach Michael Oliver has a program so they'll be back contending next season. Loses Justin Oliver, Michael Oliver Jr, Kendall Holliday, Saquan Commings, Jayden Sidney, Joshua Hurley, and Keith Collins. Junior varsity team on Chicago Public League Red Title.


8) Deerfield (25-12) (21): Topsy turvy season ended with a second place finish in Class 3A coming very close to winning the title in first appearance. Has major losses but has enough coming back to contend once again. Loses Dartmouth commit Jake Pollack, Case Western Reserve commit Evan Nagler, and Chase Arenberg as starters. Jack Sterzik and Ethan Werner are loses as well. Freshmen Drew Schnurman and Zach Newman has promising turns in state finals and are scheduled to return. Starters Charlie Yellen (will be a junior), and Tommy Donahue are slated to return.



9) Kaneland (36-1) (20): Finished in third place in Class 3A. Lost to Deefield in semifinals, beat Leo Catholic (Chicago) in third place game. Beat Morton in supersectional. Loses Grand Valley State commit Marshawn Cocroft, Connor Kimme, Evan Frieders, Isaiah Gipson, and Jalen Carter. Scheduled to return Jeffrey Hassan.


10) Leo Catholic (Chicago) (28-8) (unranked): Finshed fourth in Class 3A with young team. Only one senior on roster. Will be a favorite in Class 3A next season and one of top teams in Chicago Area. Loses Michael Lewis. Scheduled to return Asa Harris, Jeremiah Echols, Karon Shavers, Brian Kizer, Nate Stephens, Elon Henderson (will be a sophomore), Andre Tucker (will be a sophomore).


11) Warren Township (Gurnee) (30-4) (3): Shocking loss in Class 4A sectional semifinal to Auburn (Rockford) ended the season. Mr Basketball Jaxson Davis is slated to return but not much else. Loses starters Braylon Walker, Avonn King, Joel Paasch, and Javin Griffin as well as reserve Lebron Massey. Cashius Collins, Tayte Cordova return and Haze Massey (will be a junior) coming from junior varsity.


12) Bolingbrook (25-8) (11): Regional champ in Class 4A. Loses starters Michigan Tech commit Trey Brost, TJ Williams, Elijah Anderson, and Jeremy McCullum. Add reserves Jayden Madden, and AJ Perkins. Scheduled to return Brady Pettigrew (will be a junior), Mason Williams (will be a junior), Marlon Williams (will be a junior), and Isaiah Rogers.



13) Neuqua Valley (32-2) (13): Regional champ in Class 4A. Will return most of their lineup. Scheduled to return is Cole Kelly (will be a junior), Illinois commit Mason Martin, Carter Coviello, Arshil Khimani, and Danny Mikuta. Possible Top 5 preseson team.


14) Homewood Flossmoor (29-4) (17): Regional champ in Class 4A in Head Coach Brandin Brown's first year. Did a great job with a young team, scheduled to return most of his starters. Will lose Maurice Douglas. Scheduled to return Darrius Hawkins Jr (will be a junior), Danny Ruffin, Jeffrey Cade, John Brown IV (will be a junior).


15) Glenbard East (Lombard) (30-4) (18): Regional Champ in Class 4A. Loses a majority of their talent. Loses South Dakota commit Michael Nee, Danny Snyder, Jacob Marynowski, Sam Walton, Keenan House amongst others.


16) Hersey (Arlington Heights) (22-8) (unranked): Lost in Supersectional to DePaul College Prep (Chicago). Loses Charlie Pomis, Logan Luxem, Kyle Irwin and Mike Divito. Return Jake Nawrot and Tristan Trotter.


17) Fremd (Palatine) (28-3) (12): Regional Champ in Class 4A. Loses Illinois State commit Jordan Williams, Tommy Moffett, Rafael Pinto, Charlie Chlan, and Chase Nelson. Tyler Chlan (will be a junior) returns.


18) Palatine (29-5) (unranked): Regional Champ in Class 4A. Loses Illinois football commit Tony Balanganayi, Abram Williams, Darrin Dick, Will Santiago, and Robbie Wilcox. Returns Brady May.


19) Evanston Township (27-7) (unranked): Regional Champ in Class 4A. Returns most of their players should be favorite in Central Suburban South and possible preseason Top 10 team. Loses Timi Ogaunsanya and Tristan Wilcox. Scheduled to return Vito Rocca, Ben Ojala (will be a junior), Tate Schroeder, Dion Lane Jr, Dillon Pompey, and Mekhi Collins.


20) Loyola Academy (Wilmette) (27-7) (22): Regional Champ in Class 4A. Loses Cornell commit Trey Williams, Dension commit Sam Golden, Wisconsin Eau Claire baseball commit Brody Munir-Johnson, and Danny Lee. Returns Luke Alvarez.


21) Waukegan (24-8) (8): Regional Champ in Class 4A. Loses most of their top players in four year varsity performers Carter Newsome, Simereon Carter, Jaali "Rico" Love. Also Adrian Serrano, Jeremiah Edwards, Ryan Brown, and Trey'Veon Roberts.


22) New Trier (Winnetka) (25-7) (9): Regional Champ in Class 4A. Was missing Princeton commit Chris Kirkpatrick most of the season with knee injury. He graduates along with High Point commit Danny Houlihan, Max Vogel, MJ Burns. Scheduled to return Matthew Logue, Elton Jaegerskog. Owen Foster, and Denym Wallace (will be a sophomore).


23) St Patrick (Chicago) (26-5) (24): Lost in regional final to New Trier (Winnetka). Loses RJ McPartlin, Maurice Neely, and Joseph Costanza. Returns Omar Ajanovic, Steven Quach, and Jimmy Czeslawski.


24) Simeon Career Academy (Chicago) (19-10) (unranked): Regional Champ in Class 4A. Loses Isaiah Coleman, Kamari Hamlin, and Kaydin Williams.


25) Marshall (Chicago) (24-10) (unranked): Class 1A State Champ. Returns most of their players to run it back next season. Loses Quinton Gibson, and Amari Cornell. Scheduled to return Darrin "DJ" Laye (will be a junior), Edward Humes IV, Rayvon Myles, Semere Williams.
