Big Tim's Super 25 in Chicago Area after Week 1!!!!

Thanksgiving tournaments are always good. Had a couple of upsets to have movement in the poll. Short synopsis as this will be a busy week personally. May not get out to as many games this week. Here we go:



1) DePaul College Prep (Chicago) (4-0) (4A): Won Battle of The Bridge at Lane Tech College Prep (Chicago) with ease. Breezed past Hyde Park Academy (Chicago). Senior Toldeo commit Rashaun Porter was MVP, senior Brown commit Rykan Woo and Michigan Tech commit AJ Chambers both made all tournament. Friday host #12 Loyola Academy (Wilmette), Saturday vs LaLumiere (IN) at Chicago Elite Classic at Credit Union One arena.


2) Warren Township (Gurnee) (1-0) (4A): Beat East (Rockford) in blowout fashion. Junior Mr Basketball Jaxson Davis hit 30 in season opener. Wednesday at Auburn (Rockford), Saturday vs #7 Curie (Chicago) at Chicago Elite Classic at Credit Union One Arena


3) Marist (Chicago) (3-0) (4A): Won their own Thanksgiving tournament all in blowout fashion. Balanced scoring ruled the week for the Redhawks. Friday host King College Prep (Chicago), Saturday vs Sidwell Friends (Washington, DC) at Chicago Elite Classic at Credit Union One Arena.


4) Kankakee (0-0) (3A): Idle. Opens season Tuesday host Mahomet Seymour, Friday host Thornridge (Dolton), Saturday vs Pace Academy (Atlanta) at Chicago Elite Classic at Credit Union One Arena.


5) St Laurence (Burbank) (4-0) (4A): Won Hancock (Chicago) Thanksgiving Tournament all in blowout fashion. Junior Reggie Stevens was the leading scorer in the tournament as they had balanced scoring. Wednesday vs Comer, Saturday vs Rich Township (Richton Park) at Chicago Elite Classic at Credit Union One Arena.


6) St Ignatius College Prep (Chicago) (4-0) (4A): Won their own Thanksgiving Tournament. Moved up nine spots on strength of upset of previous #2 Benet Academy (Lisle). Senior Yale commit Chris Bolte was tournament MVP. Friday host DeLaSalle Institute (Chicago).


7) Curie (Chicago) (0-0) (4A): Idle. Thursday at Crane Medical (Chicago), Saturday vs #2 Warren Township (Gurnee).


8) Benet Academy (Lisle) (3-1) (4A): Dropped 6 spots with loss to previous #15 St Ignatius College Prep (Chicago) at St Ignatius Thanksgiving Tournament. Senior Eastern Illinois commit Jayden Wright led team in scoring during the week. Two games in Philadelphia, PA area. Friday at Roman Catholic (Philadelphia), Saturday at St Joseph Prep (Philadelphia, PA).


9) Lincoln Park (Chicago) (3-0) (4A): Won three games at North/South (Downers Grove) Thanksgiving Tournament. Seniors Jaylen Dickerson, Ahmad Lee, and Jalil Amous were very productive at the event. Thursday at Amundsen (Chicago), Friday vs Hyde Park Academy (Chicago) at Chicago Elite Classic at Credit Union One Arena.


10) Bolingbrook (2-0) (4A): Won both games at Decatur Thanksgiving Tournament. Was slated to play MacArthur (Decatur) in title game but was cancelled. Sophomore Brady Pettigrew was leading scoring average for both games. Tuesday at rival Romeoville, Friday host Oswego, Saturday vs #17 Homewood Flossmoor at Chicago Elite Classic at Credit Union One Arena.


11) Fremd (Palatine) (2-0) (4A): Won both games in Fenton (Bensenville) Thanksgiving Tournament. Plays Evanston Township in title game on Monday. Thursday at Barrington. Senior Illinois State commit Jordan Williams has gotten off to a hot start.


12) Loyola Academy (Wilmette) (4-0) (4A): Won New Trier (Winnetka)/Loyola Academy (Wilmette) Thanksgiving Tournament without senior Denison commit Sam Golden. Senior Cornell commit Trey Williams was MVP, Charlie Ellis, and Brody Munsey-Johnson were all tournament. Monday host Providence St Mel (Chicago), Friday at #1 DePaul College Prep (Chicago).


13) East (Oswego) (3-0) (4A): Won East (Oswego)/Oswego Thanksgiving Tournament. Senior DePaul commit Mason Lockett IV had 38 in title game vs previous #13 Neuqua Valley (Naperville). Tuesday at East (Plainfield), Friday host North (Plainfield).


14) New Trier (Winnetka) (3-1) (4A): Lost to previous #22 Loyola Academy (Wilmette). Seniors Princeton commit Chris Kirkpatrick and High Point commit Danny Houlihan were all tournament. Thursday at Maine South (Park Ridge), Friday vs Lane Tech College Prep (Chicago) at Chicago Elite Classic at Credit Union One Arena.


15) Kenwood Academy (Chicago) (1-0) (4A): Beat St Francis De Sales (Chicago). Tuesday at Farragut Academy (Chicago), Thursday at Dyett (Chicago), Saturday vs Whitney Young (Chicago) at Chicago Elite Classic at Credit Union One Arena.


16) Waukegan (3-1) (4A): Lost to Cary Grove at Johnsburg Thanksgiving Tournament. Senior Simereon Carter has had an explosive start to the season doing three level scoring. Wednesday host West Aurora, Saturday host Evanston Township.


17) Homewood Flossmoor (3-0) (4A): Won Chicago Heights Thanksgiving Tournament. Won all games by double digits. Junior Danny Ruffin put up a double/double in one of the games. Friday at Central (Lincoln Way), Saturday vs #10 Bolingbrook at Chicago Elite Classic at Credit Union One Arena.


18) Glenbard East (Lombard) (3-0) (4A): Won District 87 Thanksgiving Tournament. Senior South Dakota commit Michael Nee was leading scorer. Tuesday vs North (St Charles), Friday host Elmwood Park.


19) Lockport Township (4-0) (4A): Won WJOL Thanksgiving Classic. Junior Nedas Venckus was tournament MVP. Friday at West (Lincoln Way)


20) Kaneland (1-0) (3A): Blew out Sandwich. Tuesday at Mendota, Friday host Ottawa, Saturday host West Aurora.


21) Deerfield (4-0) (3A): Won Mundelein Thanksgiving Tournament. Seniors Darmouth commit Jake Pollack and Case Western Reserve commit Evan Nagler both make all tournament. Tuesday host Vernon Hills, Friday host Evanston Township, Saturday host Quincy.


22) Neuqua Valley (Naperville) (2-1) (4A): Dropped 8 spots with loss to previous #14 East (Oswego). More other teams not moving precipitated the big drop. Junior Mason Martin had a game with 11 threes and a 42 point game. Sophomore Cole Kelly came close to a triple double in same game vs West Aurora. Saturday at Lake Forest.



23) Lyons Township (LaGrange) (3-0) (4A): Won each game by double digits. Great start to season by sophomore Grant Smith in first extended varsity time. Junior Patrick Woods had a big scoring game. Friday host Proviso West (Hillside).


24) St Patrick (Chicago) (4-0): Won it's own Max Kurland Thanksgiving Tournament. Senior RJ McPartlin was tournament MVP. Friday host rival Notre Dame College Prep (Chicago)


25) Whitney Young (Chicago) (3-0) (4A): New to the poll. Tennessee commit Marquis Clark is having a great start to his senior season. His senior leadership is carrying a young squad at this point. Thursday host Walter Payton College Prep (Chicago), Saturday vs #15 Kenwood Academy (Chicago) at Chicago Elite Classic at Credit Union One Arena.




South (Downers Grove) drops out.
