Not much movement this week as most ranked teams took care of business. Top six stay put. Sectional seedings come out this week and will make for some interesting conversation. Lockport Township and New Trier (Winnetka) are back in. Stevenson (Lincolnshire) and St Laurence (Burbank) are out. Here we go:
1) Benet Academy (Lisle) (26-1) (4A): Rolling to the state playoffs. Ranked 15th nationally by Max Preps. Tuesday at Wheaton Academy (West Chicago), Friday at Nazareth Academy (LaGrange).
2) DePaul College Prep (Chicago) (22-3) (4A): Rolling through the competition preparing for a 4 peat. Ranked 24th nationally by Max Preps. Tuesday host Deerfield, Friday host Christ The King College Prep (Chicago).
3) Kankakee (22-1) (3A): Senior Lincoln Williams is playing some high level basketball on both ends of the court. Ranked 25th nationally by Max Preps. Went 3-0 for the week. Tuesday at Thornton Township (Harvey), Saturday vs Lanpher (Springfield) at Danville Shootout.
4) Curie (Chicago) (22-1) (4A): Advanced to Chicago Public League Red Round of 16. Thursday host Amundsen (Chicago), if they win host Elite Eight on Saturday vs winner of Lane Tech College Prep (Chicago) vs Perspectives MSA (Chicago).
5) Warren Township (Gurnee) (24-2) (4A): Are one game from clinching North Suburban Title outright. Beat pervious #20 Stevenson (Lincolnshire) and previous #14 Evanston Township. Tuesday host Lake Zurich, Friday at Libertyville, Saturday vs Hinsdale Central at Indian Creek.
6) Neuqua Valley (Naperville) (26-1) (4A): Another team rolling through schedule. Wednesday host Christian (Yorkville), Friday at DeKalb.
7) Kaneland (Maple Park) (25-0) (4A): Moved up one spot. Beat Sycamore in overtime to stay undefeated, the only Chicago Area team still standing. Wednesday host Oak Forest, Friday host Morris, Saturday vs Warrenville South at Indian Creek
8) Homewood Flossmoor (22-3) (4A): Moved up three spots. Tuesday host Lincoln Way West (New Lenox), Friday at Lincoln Way East (Frankfort), Saturday host West (Joliet).
9) St Patrick (Chicago) (21-4): Drops two spots. Lost to #16 Loyola Academy (Wilmette). Tuesday at Marian Catholic (Chicago Heights), Friday at St Viator (Arlington Heights).
10) Marist (Chicago) (24-4) (4A): Beat Nazareth Academy (LaGrange) and West Aurora both same identical 70-42 score. Friday at Catholic Academy (Joliet).
11) Whitney Young (Chicago) (20-6) (4A): Moves up two spots. Advanced to Chicago Public League Red Round of 16. Thursday host Perspectives Leadership (Chicago), if they win host winner of Morgan Park (Chicago) vs Kenwood Academy (Chicago).
12) Glenbard East (Lombard) (24-3) (4A): Dropped three spots with loss to Riverside Brookfield. Friday at Ridgewood (Norridge).
13) Bolingbrook (20-7) (4A): Dropped two spots with loss to Bartlett (TN) at Bank of O'Fallon Shootout. Friday host Minooka.
14) Loyola Academy (Wilmette) (21-6) (4A): Moves up five spots beating previous #7 St Patrick (Chicago). Tuesday host Notre Dame (Niles), Friday at St Francis (Wheaton).
15) Evanston Township (22-5) (4A): Drops one spot. Junior Vito Rocca is back on minutes restriction played in loss to #5 Warren Township (Gurnee). Tuesday at Niles West (Skokie), Friday at #25 New Trier (Winnetka).
16) York Township (Elmhurst) (24-4) (4A): Dropped one spot with loss to Lyons Township (LaGrange). Friday at Glenbard West (Glen Ellyn). Saturday host Guilford (Rockford)
17) Fremd (Palatine) (22-2) (4A): Beat #25 New Trier (Winnetka). Tuesday host Niles North (Skokie), Friday at Hersey (Arlington Heights).
18) Palatine (23-4) (4A): Beat previous #16 Cary Grove. Friday host Barrington, Saturday host Lake Forest Academy.
19) Cary Grove (23-4) (3A): Dropped four spots with loss to #18 Palatine. Tuesday host Hampshire, Friday host Central (Crystal Lake).
20) Leo Catholic (Chicago) (20-4) (3A): Moves up one spot. Went 3-0 for the week including a tough win on the West Side vs Marshall (Chicago). Three road games this week for young team. Monday at Rich Township (Richton Park), Wednesday at St Francis (Wheaton), Friday at Marmion Academy (Aurora).
21) St Ignatius College Prep (Chicago) (24-4) (4A): Moved up two spots. Beat previous #22 Mount Carmel (Chicago) on double pump bank shot three from corner by sophomore Amir Tucker. Friday at Fenwick (Oak Park).
22) Waukegan (19-7) (4A): Moved up three spots. Senior Simereon Carter looked healthy in two wins this week. His health is key to a long playoff run for the Bulldogs. Tuesday at Mundelein, Friday host Zion Benton.
23) Lockport Township (22-4) (4A): Back in the poll. Venckus brothers juniors Nedas and Nojus are having outstanding seasons. Junior point guard Nathan Munson is dishing out the assists. Tuesday at Sandburg (Orland Park), Friday host Andrew (Tinley Park).
24) Mount Carmel (Chicago) (16-10) (4A): Dropped two spots with last second loss to #21 St Ignatius College Prep (Chicago) and loss at St Joseph (South Bend, IN). Young team still in poll by virtue of mudereous schedule and have won some of the games. Friday at Brother Rice (Chicago).
25) New Trier (Winnetka) (20-7) (4A): Back in the poll.Have hit their stride playing without senior Princeton commit point guard Chris Kirkpatrick. Senior Max Vogel has filled in well. Friday host #15 Evanston Township.
