I went to the Highland Shootut where one area team that played impressed. Mount Carmel (Chicago), and York Township (Elmhurst) move in. Whitney Young (Chicago) moves back in. Kenwood Academy (Chicago), Lincoln Park (Chicago), and Lincoln Way Central (New Lenox) drop out. Lost of MLK Holiday Shootouts over the weekend. Here we go:

1) Benet Academy (Lisle) (19-1) (4A): Blew out Marian Catholic (Chicago Heights) and previous #10 Loyola Academy (Wilmette) at Steve Pappas Shootout. Friday at #13 St Patrick (Chicago), Monday vs Chaminade (St Louis,MO) at Homewood Flossmoor MLK Classic.

2) DePaul College Prep (15-3) (4A): Lost in overtime to nationally ranked Bishop O'Connell (MD) at Steve Pappas Shootout. Beat DeLaSalle Institute (Chicago). Tuesday host Providence St Mel (Chicago), Friday host Fenwick (Oak Park), Monday at Notre Dame College Prep (Niles).

3) Marist (Chicago) (16-1) (4A): Beat Wendell Phillips Academy (Chicago), and previous #22 Waukegan at Steve Pappas Shootout. Tuesday host Don Bosco Prep (IN), Friday at Carmel Catholic (Mundelein), Sunday vs Webster Groves (MO) at Homewood Flossmoor MLK Classic.

4) Kankakee (13-1) (3A): Beat Thornwood Township (Harvey) and Crete Monee. Tuesday at Rich Township (Richton Park), Saturday at Centennial (Champaign).

5) Warren Township (Gurnee) (14-1) (4A):Beat Mundelein, Stevenson (Lincolnshire) as Mr Basketball junior Jaxson Davis had 36 points in three quarters. Beat perennial power Vashon (St Louis,MO) at Highland Shootout as Davis and senior Braylon Walker put on a show. Wednesday at Lake Zurich, Saturday host Libertyville.

6) Curie (Chicago) (14-1) (4A): Beat Marshall County (Benton, KY) at Mustang Madness in Paducah,KY, beat previous #13 Bolingbrook at Steve Pappas Shootout as senior Justin Oliver went for a career high 39 points. Tuesday vs Marshall (Chicago), Thursday at North Lawndale (Chicago), Sunday vs Hillcrest (Country Club Hills) at Homewood Flossmoor MLK Classic.

19) Mount Carmel (Chicago) (13-5) (4A): New to the poll. Young team has navigated a tough schedule. Junior Logan Wessel has played well. Freshman DK Heard made all tournament at Pekin and has stepped it up as season has gone. Sophomore Marshuan Thornton and freshman Ronald Johnson have progressed well.
