Class of 2030 Big Tim is getting first introduction to these young men. I don't watch middle school basketball (except for Evanston's FAAM House League and that's for fun no evalutaions). These young men have room to grow as do others I may not have gotten my eyes on in this one. Games were at Supreme Courts in Aurora. Here we go:
ISAIAH STEWART, Rantoul Township: 6'10" forward is the most intriguing long term prospect I watched at the event. Smooth stroke from three and mid range. Scored around the rim with a few dunks, and turnaround jumpers. Showed his presence defensively blocking a couple of three point attempts, and shots in the paint. Changes ends well and a good trailer for the knock down three point shot. Good passer out of post, and good pick and roll or pop partner.
ELIJAH MCKINNIE, Kenwood Academy (Chicago): 6'3" point guard made things look easy here. Got to any spot he wanted on the floor off the dribble, whether in transition or half court. Hit threes, scored on attacks to the rim finishing on straight line drives or Euro step finishes. Quick hands to get steals on and off the ball. Pull-up mid range jumper game as well as good passes with good vision finding shooters and players running lanes.
JAXSON PURVIS, Christian (Yorkville): 6'4" combo guard was doing a little bit of everything here. Lefty was knocking down threes, attacking the rim and scoring on stright line drives, rebound put-backs, and catching passes in transition. Hit the glass on both ends, brought the ball up the court setting up teammates with passes that led to scores.
DUAIN JOHNSON, Christian (Yorkville): 6'5" wing was scoring on attacks to the rim in transition finishing at the rim. Made a few threes, and mid range jump shots. Played good on the ball defense using his big body to stay in front of dribblers. Hit the glass well on both ends, created for himself and others in halfcourt situations.
GRAYSON JOHNSON, Benet Academy (Lisle): 6'0" point guard was hitting threes mostly off the dribble as well as setting up offense and making nice passes to shooters. Pushed the ball in transition getting to the rim and finishing. Hit the defensive glass to get fast break started pushing the ball up the court with the pass.
JACKSON SPENCER, Oswego: 5'9" point guard showed good two end play. Scored threes and attacking the rim pushing the ball in transiton and finishing, as well as setting up others. Good on ball defender getting steals, as well as from helpside defense.
RASHAD THOMAS, St Laurene (Burbank): 5'9" point guard is a sniper from three, hit some deep ones here. Scored on some penetration in transition and halfcourt using his quickness to get down hill. Made some nice passes on the move with the dribble, and stole the ball with quick hands.
TOMMY GARAKAT, Glenbard South (Carol Stream): 5'10" point guard was using his quickness to get steals and score at the rim in transition. Blocked a couple of shots, hit the glass and got out in transition lanes. Showed a nice mid range jump shot.
COLIN WIRTZ, Case (WI): 5'11" point guard showed a nice stroke from deep. Hit a few threes mostly off the catch and shoot variety. Attacked the rim off the bounce and created opportunities in the paint for himself and others.
JAMES RYBERG, Benet Academy (Lisle): 6'5" combo guard showed a nice offensive package and all around game. Hits threes off the dribble and bounce, in halfcourt,and running floor in transition. Created his shot off the dribble in mid range, and attacking the rim finishing with layins and dunks. Hit the defensive glass well and started transition with pass or pushing ball himself. Good passer in halfcourt or transition.
FRANK CREGAN, Andrew (Tinley Park): 6'0" combo guard is good at attacking downhill and scoring through contact. Can do it in halfcourt and in transition. Hit some mid range jumpers as well as mixing in a few threes. Hit the glass on both ends very well.
EVAN NEAL, DeLaSalle Institute (Chicago): 6'3" combo guard was everywhere on both ends. Getting hands on balls, quick hands getting steals on the ball or on helpside. Pushed the ball in transition scoring on strong finishes at the rim, or on mid range jumpers. Made some nice passes in the halfcourt and getting it out to shooters in transition.
WILLIAM HEISLER, Lockport Township: 5'11" combo guard pushed the ball in transition scoring at the rim, on pull-up mid range jumpers, or stroking a few threes. Penetration into the paint and made nice passes out to shooters. Defended well on and off the ball.
NATHANIEL MERRIWEATHER, East (Oswego): 5'9" point guard hustled for a lot of offensive rebounds and put backs. Changed ends well making himself available for passes and baskets attacking the rim. Hit some mid range jump shots as well.
MAMADOU BAKER, Auburn (Rockford): 6'7" forward showed himself well on both ends. Scored on postups in the paint, as well as attacking the paint for mid range jumpers. Rim protected at a high level blocking multiple shots in multiple games. Rebounds well on both ends, gets passes out and then runs the floor and finishes on passes at the rim, or on put backs.
RONALD RHONE III, DeLaSalle Institute (Chicago): 5'10" point guard was a floor general here setting up teammates for open shots and layups. Found time to hit some threes, and attacked the rim with straight line finishes. Played good defense on the ball getting steals, and digging in from help side.
TOBI FARLEY, Mount Carmel (Chicago): 5'10" combo guard knocked down some three point shots running to the line on catches as well as side step threes. Pushed the ball in transtion and set up others for open shots. Grabbed some defensive rebounds.
DEON PUGH, Rich Township (Richton Park): 6'2" combo guard showed some athleticism around the rim finishing through and around contact. Attacked lanes off the dribble and showed a mid range jumper as well as crashing the glass.
ZACHURIAH WILLIAMS, Danville: 5'6" point guard is quick on quick pushing the ball in transition and first step getting into the lane in halfcourt. Good deep shooter from three point range, and can set up teammates for shots. Quick hands get steals to get out for easy baskets in transition.
GABRIEL HENNESSY, Lake Zurich: 5'5" point guard is a knockdown shooter from three. Hits them off the catch and the bounce. Quickness helps him get to spots to get his shot off, sets up teammates. Gets steals using quick hands did it mostly from helpside defense.
ROBERT SMITH JR, Marist (Chicago): 6'2" combo guard is a cerebral talent. Nice ball handling can get to his spots, to get shots at all three levels, or set up a teammate for a basket at the rim, or open three pointer. Gets steals roaming passing lanes, or long arms on the ball. Intelligent player for such a young talent.
AHMED IBRAHIM, St Patrick (Chicago): 6'3" wing scored mostly pushing the ball in transition and finishing on stright line drives. Gets rebound and pushes it himself with strong attacks to the rim. Hit a couple of threes as well as set up teammates with the dribble attack.
LUKE BERAN, Benet Academy (Lisle): 6'3" wing is a smooth lefty who gets downhill very well and finishes at the rim. Does it in transition or halfcourt. Mixed in a few three pointers, and good at making passes to teammates off the dribble, setting them up for baskets. Hit the defensive glass well. Slasher extraordinaire.
JOHNNY KING IV, West (Davenport, IA): 6'0" point guard showed good attacking abaility off the dribble in halfcourt and transition. Nice stroke from three and mid range. Good defender on and off the ball, as well as setting teammates up for shots.
CHRISTIAN DULINSKY, Catholic Academy (Joliet): 6'6" forward was scoring in the paint on ost ups, and running the floor in transition. Can put the ball on the floor and attack the rim with strong finishes. Nice touch on mid range jumpers as well as crashing the glass on both ends.
KELLEN JONES, Pekin Community: 6'2" combo guard is a nice passer in transition and halfcourt. Attacks the rim off the dribble and finishes through and around contact. Hit some mid range jumpers and crashed the glass on both ends.
DAVID PAULIUKONIS, Benet Academy (Lisle): 6'7" wing hits the glass on both ends, has a nice handle to get to his spots for mid range jump shots. Did some rim protecting and made nice outlet passes. Changes ends well. Nice turnaround jumper in the lane.
TERRYN BLOOM, Minooka: 6'1" combo guard attacks the rim off the dribble in halfcourt or transition. Makes good passes on the move and finishes through and around contact. Crashes the glass on both ends.
DAVON STEEN JR, N/A: 5'10" point guard is a floor general who set up teammates for open threes as well as layups attacking the paint. Pushes the ball in transition and can hit threes off the dribble or off the catch. (Class of 2031).
STAN STRONG JR, Dyett (Chicago): 5'9" point guard is a floor general who was busy setting up teammates for baskets in this event. Strong (no pun intended) attacker off the bounce getting into the paint to create for himself and others. Attacks either in transition or halfcourt.
DJ MOORE, Marist (Chicago): 6'2" point guard nice ball handling to get where he wants on the court. Good size for the position can socre from three or mid range. Uses length to get hands on the ball in passing lanes and on the ball to get steals.
KAMARION SANDIFER, Rich Township (Richton Park): 6'5" wing was converting multiple dunks in this event. Attacking the rim in transition after getting defensive rebound, using a tight handle to get where he wants on the floor. Has a nice stroke from mid range, and rim protects in the paint.
DEMARIO WELDY, Richwoods (Peoria): 5'7" point guard can get where he wants off the dribble setting up himself or teammates. Good three point shotoer can do it off the dribble or the bounce. Defends well on the ball.
SEBASTIAN OLIVARES, East Leyden: 6'3" wing gets out on the wings in transition and converts on straight line drives. Has length to defend in and out of passing lanes. Crashes the glass.
EVAN BAUER, Benet Academy (Lisle): 6'3" forward finishes strong at the rim on postups or attacks on the bounce. Attacks the glass on both ends of the court. Moves well off the ball and sets solid screens.
HENRY BIRCH, Barrington: 6'0" wing is a knockdown three point shooter. Hits them off the catch or the bounce. MOves well off the ball getting to his spots to get shot off. Attacks rim off the bounce on straight line drives.
LOUIS TRE JOHNSON, Bloom Township (Chicago Heights): 6'7" forward hits threes off the bounce or catch. Ball handling is good enough to take defenders off the bounce either in halfcourt or transition. Finishes with Euro step or straight line drive. Changes ends well.
CHRISTIAN FULLER, Christ Lutheran: 6'0" combo guard is a good shooter from three or in mid range. Can get to his spots off the dribble and create for himself and others.
JONATHAN FARKAACH, St Ignatius College Prep (Chicago): Good shooter from deep mostly off the catch. Moves well to get to his spots and is deadly from the corner. Makes nice passes to set teammates up for shots.
