Goreville and Marshall (Chicago) advance to the IHSA Class 1A title game!!!

Both teams led the entire way in their games to easily advance to a title game matchup.



Goreville 55 Lawrenceville 47:


Goreville went out to a 6-0 lead and never looked back as junior Nick King led with 20 points and 8 rebounds scoring on cuts and postups at the rim. Goreville who had hit 362 threes coming into the game, went 6/14 in this one, and hit some timely threes when Lawrenceville threatened to make it a game. Goreville led 15-7 after one quarter, 24-19 at recess, and broke it open in the third quarter outscoring Lawrenceville, the highest ranked team left in the tournament according to Associated Press, 12-5 to take a 36-24 lead into the fourth quarter. Lawrenceville cut it to single digits but Goreville hit enough free throws to make it a comfortable margin.



Goreville moves to 34-4 and a title game date with Marshall (Chicago) on Saturday. Lawrenceville moves to 34-3 and third place game vs Eastland tonight.

Lawreneville:


Senior Jayden Goff 16 points 6 rebounds 3 blocks

Marshall (Chicago) 66 Eastland 38:


Marshall's quickness and early foul trouble by senior star Parker Krogman, combined to make this a blowout from the jump. Krogman, Eastland's leading scorer only scored 7 points. Marshall led 9-3 after the first quarter as they had some trouble generating offense themselves. They caught a rhythm in the second quarter as two mid range jumpers by junior Amari Kennedy showed the way in the quarter. Marshall led 24-8 at recess, pretty much game over at this point. Senior Quinton Gibson scored 6 points in the third quarter as junior Rayvon Myles and sophomore DJ Laye did a littel bit of everything to make this a comfortable margin. Marshall led 42-23 at the end of the third quarter and cruised from there.



Marshall (Chicago) moves to 23-10 and a title game date with Goreville on Saturday Eastland moves to 32-6 and third place game vs Lawrenceville tonight.
