Recliner Boys keep rolling along with another impressive win before heading to Hinsdale Central Holiday tournament where they will be a favorite. Here we go:
#1 BROTHER RICE (CHICAGO) 59 AURORA (WEST) 50: Story go the night was 6'7" senior forward Zavier Fitch. Where are the college offers for him? He's a scholarship player and definitely put another notch on the resume tonight. The rest of the team is going to continue to be dangerous. All five starters can dribble, pass, and shot and can interchange positions easily. Oh yeah they play good team defense whether it's man to man or 2-3 zone. Led tis game wire to wire. Brother Rice was up 23-12 after first quarter, 35-26 at halftime, and 48-35 after third quarter. This team is like a Venus fly trip, you think you are close and in the game, then they have a couple of min runs and game over. Junior point guard Marcos Gonzales had a nasty two hand dunk on the fast break, as well as Fitch adding a followup dunk on a rebound both in the first half. Gonsales and Fitch will be discussed further down the page. Senior Lewis commit Cale Cosme had 9 points 1 rebound and 2 steals though he's in a little bit of a shooting slump. Senior guard Ty Wooten had 9 points 2 rebounds 1 assist. Senior Caden Workman had some key offensive rebounds in the game. He ended up with 8 points 7 rebounds 3 assists 2 blocks. West Aurora was led by senior guard Jordan Brooks with 14 points but only 3 in the second half 2 rebounds. Senior guard CJ Savage had 8 points 2 rebounds and 4 assists. Junior Terrence Smith had 7 rebounds and 3 blocks off the bench. Brother Rice (Chicago) upped it's record to 13-0 staying undefeated, while Aurora (West) drops to 9-3.
Zavier Fitch, 6'7" senior forward, Brother Rice (Chicago) had a double/double and 20/20 game tonight. 20 points 20 rebounds 8 assists 1 steal. Dominated proceedings on both ends. Brought the ball up the court and set up the offense a lot. Scored on put backs, post ups on the block, mid range jumpers. Was 0-1 from three but did everything else out there.
Marcos Gonzales, 6'3" junior point guard, Brother Rice (Chicago) had a nasty two handed dunk and seems like confidence is getting higher every game. He had 13 points 2 rebounds and 3 assists running the team and getting a piece of the paint as usual. Did hit a nice mid range pull-up jump shot expanding his game. Received a division one offer tonight from Radford (VA). Congrats young fella, more to come.
