Never thought of this but Glenbrook North has suited up two McDonald's All-Americans, Chris Collins and Jon Scheyer. Scheyer to me is one of the top 5 players in the history of Illinois High School basketball. Their 2005 title surprised a lot of folks. Here we go:
Mundelein started out shorthanded without their two top players senior Chris Martin and sophomore Derek Bishop. Glenbrook North did not take pity on the Mustangs as they went out to a 10-0 lead to start the game. Took a 22-5 lead at end of first quarter and extended it to 37-14 at halftime. Glenbrook North put the reserves in the game in middle of third quarter and we had a running clock for the fourth. Running clock is when a team has at least a 30 point lead in the fourth quarter. Glenbrook North was led by junior point guard Josh Fridman's 16 points followed by senior guard Ryan Cohen's 10 points 2 steals and 2 blocks. Mundelein was led by Derek Parola's 6 points 3 rebounds. Senior Kevin Moyer had 10 rebounds for Mundelein to lead all players. Glenbrook North ups their record to 5-0, while Mundelein drops to 2-3. Mundelein expects to have Derek Bishop back in a couple of weeks as he has a broken toe.
