I went to the first home game for Warren Football team in the fall. I was encountered by a bunch of Warren basketball players (I was surprised they recognized me) at the game. They told me in no uncertain terms they would see me in Champaign. They know I'm there covering the boys state finals every year. Very confident bunch and they are building a great case to be down there. Have a tough long trip to Rockford Guilford for Sectional (that is if they win their regional). They've won 7 straight games to get a share of the conference title. They are playing well at the right time of the year. Here we go:

#10 Warren Township (Gurnee) 64 Lake Zurich 39: This game was very close for a half. Senior Immanuel Brown of Warren scored the first 7 points for his team. Sophomore Kain Kretschmar of Lake Zurich scored all 10 of his points in the first half. Warren led 16-9 after the first quarter and 30-25 at half. Then the third quarter started and Warren turned the heat up on defense. Pressure burst pipes and it did in this case. Lake Zurich committed 8 turnovers in the third quarter. Warren outscored Lake Zurich 21-5 in the quarter. Lake Zurich only got off 5 shots in the quarter. Warren got scoring from a number of players in that stanza. Warren led 51-30 at the end of the quarter. Game over it was in the refrigerator by that time and reserves played most of the quarter. Warren ups it's record to 27-4 and will play winner of Round Lake/Zion Benton game on Wednesday in Class 4A Warren (Gurnee) Regional. Lake Zurich drops to 20-8 and begins Class 4A Lake Zurich Regional play on Wednesday vs Wheeling.

Javerion Banks, 6'1" junior guard: Had a bunch of deflections on defense throughout the game. Stat line 15 points 3 rebounds 4 assists 3 steals and 2 blocks.
