This is a very good rivalry of teams that are next to each other in the Southwest Suburbs of Chicago. Some say a game becomes a rivalry when both teams win from time to time. I talked to some observers tonight, and none of us could remember the last time Romeoville beat Bolingbrook in basketball? Bolingbrook seems to own beach front property in Romeoville. Hopefully some Romeoville folks will help me out with this one. Here we go:
Sophomore game:
The Brook 53 The Ville 46: I usually do not keep stats for sophomore games but I made it into the gym with about 3 minutes to go in the first quarter. The Brook controlled this game from the start leading 16-7 after 1, 30-16 at halftime, 44-33 after three. The Ville made it interesting in the fourth quarter, but The Brook held them at bay. The Brook was led by freshman guard Trey Brost (5'10") with 16 points followed by freshman guard Aiden Perkins (5'9) with 13 points 3 steals. Sophomore forward Tavarez Edwards (6'2") had 10 rebounds. The Ville was led by freshman wing Mickies Johnson with 16 points 5 rebounds, followed by sophomore Jacob Miloch's 11 points.
Varsity game:
#18 The Brook 59 The Ville 48: The Brook controlled this game most of the time though the first quarter The Brook only led 15-13, but the second quarter is when the game turned as The Brook outscored The Ville 19-6 to lead 34-19 at half. They still led 43-36 after three quarters of play. The game was at 45-39 The Brook when The Ville had two consecutive turnovers that led to layups by The Brook and there's your ball game. The Brook was led by senior point guard Miami (OH) commit Mekhi Cooper's (6'0") 14 points 6 assists and 4 steals. Junior guard DJ Strong (5'9") had 12 points to help out. The Ville was led by junior guard Meyoh Swansey (6'2") with 17 points, and was followed by senior forward Concordia commit Aaron Brown (6'5") with 15 points. Senior guard Loyola (MD) commit Troy Cicero (6'2") had 14 points 4 rebounds. Bolingbrook ups it's record to 11-4 while Romeoville drops to 12-6.
