#18 Marist (Chicago) survives the Dons!!!!!!!! News and Notes December 6th, 2022!!!!!

Writer: Big TimBig Tim

Deliberate offense was the rule in a low scoring game at the Don Dome in Niles tonight. Other notes forthcoming. Home team does not shoot a free throw THE ENTIRE GAME!!!

#18 Marist (Chicago) 34 Notre Dame College Prep (Niles) 30: Crazy kind of game. Looking at the score you would think it was a boring game. It wasn't. Great defense from both sides, Marist man to man defense, Notre Dame College Prep's zone defense that slowed the game down for Marist. Notre Dame College Prep led at halftime 18-14 as Marist scored only 2 points in the second quarter. No free throws were shot till the 5:30 mark in the third quarter. There were only five free throws shot the entire game, all by Marist. Three of them were at the end of the game when Notre Dame College Prep had to foul. I don't think I've ever seen a basketball game where the home team did not shoot a free throw the entire game. Nip and tuck fourth quarter. Marist got a little separation when freshman guard Adoni Vassilakis found sophomore forward Achilles Anderson for a layup to put them up 3 with 1 minute left game. Notre Dame College Prep missed a layup with about 30 seconds left. Marist was in the 1 and 1 with 10 seconds left, missed a free throw but Mason Ross got the rebound and was fouled. He hit 1 of 2 free throws for the final four point margin. Sophomore guard Keshaun Vital led Marist with 10 points, senior guard Justin Lang had 3 steals. Notre Dame College Prep had only three players score in the game. Senior guard Connor Moselle led with 11 points 3 steals and 2 blocks, sophomore wing Brady Sehlhorst scored 10 points with 5 rebounds. Their other scorer was senior forward Yann Kouolou with 9 points 2 blocks. Marist goes to 7-0, 2-0 in East Suburban Conference battle. Notre Dame College Prep falls to 3-3, 0-2 in conference.
