Two teams that came into the game unbeaten. Two teams that wanted to stay unbeaten....badly. Last games for both before going to their respective Christmas Holiday Tournaments. Those two things combined into an intense game in Mundelein on the Saturday before Christmas. Trash talking, intense battles for loose balls that resulted in double technicals, one on each team in the middle of the third quarter. Mundelein junior forward Scottie Ebube and Lake Park senior forward Trevor Montiel going back and forth at each other all game in that match up. Both taking it to each other on both ends of the court. Third quarter Mundelein junior guard Connor Enright took over proceedings for awhile. The start of the fourth quarter till about the four minute mark Lake Park senior guard Luke Sgarbossa took over the game. In the end the biggest play of the game was made by Ebube with a blocked shot of Montiel, and then securing the rebound with a three point lead under a minute to go in the game. It was the difference in a 5 point victory for the Mustangs to keep their unbeaten record intact and protect their homecourt. The back and forth lead changes throughout the game made this one of the best games of the year. Mundelein controlled the first half till a 10-2 run by Lake Park at the end of the half cut the Mundelein lead to 18-16. Mundelein was led by Ebube housing folks with 23 points 14 rebounds and 5 blocks. Enright had 19 points and 3 rebounds. Lake Park was led by Montiel with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Sgarbossa ended up with 12 points. Mundelein ups it's record to 10-0 headed into the Collinsville Holiday Tournament, while Lake Park drops to 9-1 headed into the Pekin Holiday Tournament.
