Some big time players and competition went on over 4 days at the Wintrust Complex in Bedford Park,IL last week. Thursday-Sunday brought some exciting brand of basketball seeing some top prospects from Class of 2026 to Class of 2029 nationally. Some local prospects did well. Thanks to the organizers, players, coaches, referees, custodians, and folks who served in the hospitality room. Good food and a good time. Here we go:
TEXAS IMPACT 4:13 DETHRONES TWO TIME 17U CHAMP TEAM THRILL:
Yes different players, but same program from the area where Under Armour was created. Team Thrill out of Baltimore, MD have dominated this division over the last few years. Them Texas Boyz based out of the DFW Metroplex played tough hardnosed basketball to get the win. Baltimore Area and DMV is also known for tough basketball. DFW has had a lottery pick in the last three NBA Drafts. You can also go back further to Cade Cunningham.
Texas Impact (Dallas,TX) 53 Team Thrill (Baltimore, MD) 46:
Texas Impact slowly bult a double digit lead behind 6'1" combo guard Brayden Jones (game high 17 points) (#2), and sharpshooter 6'7" wing Sawyer Dotson (14 points) (#21). Henry Beckett did the dirty work inside on the glass. Luke Susko (6'6" combo guard) (#24) added 13 points. Team Thrill would not go away though as they got multiple steals to cut the lead to 3 on multiple occasions. Point guard (5'11") Kameron Carter did not score a lot of points (2) but had multiple steals to keep his team in it. Aidan Able (6'4" combo guard) led them with 11 points.
TOP -PLAYERS IN 17U:
ISAIAH BROWN, SOH ELITE (FL) : 6'9" forward had 13 points in win over Ilinois Wolves. Scored in paint and hit the glass for offensive rebonds. Did it in multiple games here. Product of Stranahan (FL).
JASEN LOPEZ, SOH ELITE (FL) : 6'0" point guard scorers on attacks to the rim and showed he can hit threes in multiple games. Defends well on the ball giving opposing point guards fits. Two sport athlete committed to Florida State in both football (4 star Wide Receiver) and basketball. Product of Chaminade Madonna (FL).
RYKAN WOO, ILLINOIS WOLVES: 6'1" combo guard just committed to Brown University. Scored 31 points including 13 of first 16 in game vs SOH Elite. He can score from anywhere on the court from three, and hit mid range jumpers off the dribble. Cuts well to the basket off the ball. Product of DePaul College Prep (Chicago).
OLIVER GRAY, ILLINOIS WOLVES: 6'6" combo guard scored 11 of his 13 points in second half vs SOH Elite. He hit 3 threes in the game and was more aggressive looking for his offense all weekend. Received some division one offers after the event. Product of Barrington (IL).
FRED SMITH JR, P7 ELITE (TN): 6'7" wing scored 13 points vs Team Thrill. Is a good facilitator of the offense off the dribble. Makes nice passes in transition or in the half court. Hits the glass on both ends at a high level. Fills the stat sheet in a positive way. Product of Briarcrest Christian (Memphis, TN).
QUINN COSTELLO, MIDDLESEX MAGIC (MA): 6'10" wing is a jumbo perimeter player who can knock down threes at a high clip. Had 4 of them for 14 points in win over Elevate (IL) in quarterfinal win. Division One offers have poured in for him since June. Product of The Newman School (Boston,MA).
RYAN MOESCH, MIDDLESEX MAGIC (MA): 6'0" point guard lefty can hit threes from all over the court. Had 5 of them for 19 points in win over Elevate (IL). Continued to hit them in 3rd place game as well as attack the rim for baskets and passes out to shooters. Product of Cushing Academy (MA).
TY TABALES, MIDDLESEX MAGIC (MA): 6'2" combo guard can hit threes from all over the court. Catch and shoot, off the dribble, step backs, off balance. Hit multiple threes in multiple games. Product of New Hampton School (NH)
CAM RYANS, STORM BASKETBALL (MI): 6'4" combo guard is an attacker off the bounce. Uses strong body to finish through contact and has quickness and ball handling to get to the rim. Scored 22 points (2 threes) vs Pro One (Hunstville,AL). Top three player in Michigan. Product of Northview (Grand Rapids, MI).
KINGSTON WHITTY, PRO ONE (AL): 6'2" point guard scored he can score off the bounce and score at the rim. Showed a mid range jump shot scoring 14 points vs Storm Basketball (Grand Rapids, MI). Product of Holy Innocents Episcopal (Atlanta, GA).
GAGE MAYFIELD, PRO ONE (AL): 6'5" combo guard scored, rebounded, and passed the ball well vs Storm Basketball (MI). Scored 15 points in the game. Versatile perimeter player who can crash the glass. Product of Hale County, (Moundville, AL).
JACOB BASCOM, STORM BASKETBALL (MI): 6'6" wing scored from three and on attacks to the rim vs Pro One (AL). Totaled 14 points (2 threes) as well as hit the defensive glass. Product of Rockford (MI)
COLTON WATSON, ARIZONA SELECT: 6'7" wing showed a versatile game in a couple of games I saw. Had 12 points on 2 threes vs Middlesex Magic (MA) in third place game. Product of Sandra Day O'Connor (Phoenix, AZ).
JOHN MATTINGLY, ARIZONA SELECT: 6'0" point guard is a floor general who can't be sped up. He scores from all three levels, makes passes to teammates whether kickouts, or alley-oops off penetration. Product of Central (Phoenix, AZ).
AJ CHAMBERS, ELEVATE (IL): 6'0" point guard is just a solid player who does everything on the court well for a guard. Lefty uses strong penetration and finishing at the rim. Hits the three, and defends at a high level on or off the ball. 3 time State Champion. Product of DePaul College Prep (Chicago).
ANDREW JENSEN, ELEVATE (IL): 6'9" forward was strong hitting the glass and scoring in the paint. Steps out and hits threes. Just committed to DePaul University (Chicago). Product of Kaukauna (WI).
JORDAN WILLIAMS, ELEVATE (IL): 6'6" wing scores off the bounce, at the rim, and mid range. Lefty can step out and hit threes and hits the glass strong for his position. Product of Fremd (Palatine, IL).
GAVIN LOWE, MOUNTAIN STARS (UT): 6'0" point guard had 16 points on 4 threes in win over Wisconsin Playground. Product of Olympus (UT).
ERIC FIEDLER, MOUNTAIN STARS (UT): 6'8" wing can score inside and hit threes off the catch and the bounce. Scored 19 points on 3 threes and 8 free throws drawing fouls in the paint in win over Wisconsin Playground. Product of Regis Jesuit (CO).
TEAM THRILL HOLDS ON FOR 16U TITLE OVER ATLANTA X PRESS 51-48:
The young man that to me is the story of this title is Mancho Junior. A 6'10" center out of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Essex,MD) was hit in the face trying to take a charge earlier in the week. Blood was all over his face, and he was down howling in pain. He came back the next two days wearing a mask and playing as aggressive as he was in the paint. He had 9 points in the title game, but his work on the glass was huge. Salute young fella. Point guard Darrell Davis (Boys Latin School of Maryland) was scoring from all over the place, and defending on the perimeter. Game high 25 points which was almost half his team's total in the title game. Atlanta Xpress was led by Jarvis Hayes Jr's (Woodward Academy, GA) 18 points.

OTURO REDENTO, ILLINOIS WOLVES: 6'5" wing hit a couple of threes and changed ends well hitting the glass in win over Arizona Select. Slashed to the basket off the dribble attacking the rim. Product of Glenbard North (Carol Stream, IL).
EDVARDAS STASYS, ILLINOIS WOLVES: 6'7" forward has a nasty two hand dunk over defender in win over Arizona Select, WATCH YOUR HEAD (taps head). Had 15 points in game and showed the ability to step out and hit threes and mid range jumpers. Product of State Classs 4A Champ Benet Academy (Lisle,IL).
HAYDEN SCHROEDER, ILLINOIS WOLVES: 6'7" forward scored in the paint on off ball cuts, post ups on the block, and offensive rebounding. Had 17 points in win over Arizona Select. Can step out and hit threes. Product of Wheaton Academy (West Chicago,IL).
JAMAIL SEWELL, WISCONSIN PLAYGROUND: 6'7" forward is a load in the paint. Posts up and scores through contact. Hits the glass using his body. Division one prospect in football as an offensive lineman. Product of Wisconsin Lutheran.
ALEC ROBBINS, WISCONSIN PLAYGROUND: 6'6" wing attacked the rim off the bounce and scored in mid range vs Illinois Wolves. Had 16 points in the game. Product of Iola-Scandinavia (WI).
EDWARD BULLOCK III, WISCONSIN PLAYGROUND: 6'2" combo guard had 16 points and hit a three in game vs Illinois Wolves. Penetrated and made passes for open shot to teammates. Product of Nicolet (WI).
COLE DUBOIS, ELEVATE (IL): 5'10" point guard was scoring deep threes, on drives to the rim, penetrated the defense and made some nice passes to cutters. Averaged 20 and close to 10 assists a game in the Under Armour Finals. Top 5 point guard in his class in Ilinois. Product of East Peoria (IL).
JACOB FULLER, ELEVATE (IL): 6'8" forward steps out and hits threes off the catch. Did some posting up and scoring at the rim. Most aggressive I've seen him play in the paint. Had 26 points (4 threes) in win vs Wisconsin Playground. Product of Glenbrook South (Glenview,IL).
DAWSON CHARLES, ELEVATE (IL): 6'2" combo guard has worked very hard on his three point stroke. A King of Bounce who will dunk on you in a moments notice has added perimeter game to his arsenal. Had 16 points in win vs Wisconsin Playground. Product of St Viator (Arlington Heights, IL).
JAISHAWN WOODS, AWIGG ELITE (NC) : 6'2" combo guard has a mid range game that is ridiculous. Hits them off the bounce and the catch in the mid post. He can also hit threes in transition or halfcourt. Product of South Point (NC).
MIGUEL ORBE, SOH ELITE (FL) : 6'3" combo guard hits threes off the catch or bounce. Hits them in transition of half court. Scored them in multiple games in Under Armour Finals. Had 16 points vs KC Run Gmc (KS). Product of Miami Country Day (FL).
DWIGHT "DJ" GAINES, SOH ELITE (FL) : 5'10" point guard can run an offense as well as hit threes at a high rate. Had 26 points (4 threes) as well as attacking the rim in transition and half court to score. Product of Westminster Academy (FL).
CHASE BRANHAM, KC RUN GMC (KS): 6'4" combo guard can run and offense, hit threes, and score in the mid range. He did all of these vs SOH Elite (Fl). Scored 18 points on 3 threes in game. Product of Logan Rogersville (MO).
MIKE THOMAS III, KC RUN GMC (KS): 6'6" wing is a nice lefty scoring who can do it on all three levels of the court. Drives to the rim with aggression and finishes through and around contact. Defends multiple positions. Product of Summit Christian Academy (MO).
COLE BLACKBURN, MIDDLESEX MAGIC (MA): 6'7" wing is a King of Bounce. Attacks the rim with bad intentions usually to dunk on someone here. Uses hang time to score through and around contact at the rim, WATCH YOUR HEAD (taps head). Product of Buckingham Browne & Nichols (MA).
PRESTON BOLIN, MIDDLESEX MAGIC (MA): 6'6" wing can hit the three and attack the basket off the bounce or in transition. Hard nosed player who hits both backboards hard. Had 12 points vs AWigg Elite (NC). Product of The Newman School (MA).
SOLIS BUIE, MIDDLESEX MAGIC (MA): 6'0" point guard is quick and quick. Used it and quick hands to get multiple steals and bother opposing guards bringing the ball up the court. Guards 94 feet of the court. Had 10 points vs AWigg Elite (NC). Product of St Sebastian's (MA).
KYLE AMADI, TEXAS IMPACT 4:13: 6'4" combo guard is a knockdown three point shooter. He hits them off the catch, off the bounce, stepback, anything you need. Nice smooth stoke and attack the rim off the bounce. Had 15 points (3 threes) in win over Elevate (IL).
RODNEY WAGNER, TEXAS IMPACT 4:13: 5'11" point guard had 23 points on attacks to the rim in transition and halfcourt. Hit one three so most of his points were on steals and putting pressure on the defense off the bounce. Product of Panther Creek (TX).
ROMEJO WAITS, TEXAS IMPACT 4:13: 6'4" combo guard scored from three and mid range, but had most of his effect on defense. Had multiple steals and got ball out to teammates in transition. Product of Byron Nelson (TX).
TWO SPECIAL PLAYERS THAT PLAYED UP ON 16U:
XAVIER YOUNG, TEXAS IMPACT 4:13 (CLASS OF 2028): Powerful young man is a 6'9" forward who had a lot of power dunks, off vertical, and driving to the rim and punching it. Rim protected and crashed the glass on both ends. Hit a three for good measure to show he can step out and hit them. Product of Lewisville (TX).
DRAYDNE MCDANIEL, SOH ELITE (CLASS OF 2029): Lefty played two levels up. Hurt his back on Friday so didn't play in every game. The one I did see him he dominated in stretches running in and out of the game. Versatile player who hits threes, gets in mid range off the dribble, and finishes with ease on powerful dunks. Good passer, unselfish gets ball to teammates. Can defend all five positions in high school. Dominated the Futures Game doing a little bit of everything. Product of Calvary Christian (FL).
CANADA ELITE WINS SECOND 15U TITLE IN FOUR YEARS:
Beat We R 1 (DE) 74-73 on a last second blocked shot at the rim by Sebastian N'Dour who scored 6 points in the game. Close throughout but Canada Elite pulled it out. They were led by Isaiah Hamilton who had 19 points (5 threes), then Isaiah Clarke and Kenyon St Louis tied with 18 points. We R 1 was led by Jamieson Young with 24 points followed by Azjuan "Mikey" Matthews with 20.
