Top peformances in state tonight as well. Two seniors had huge gams tonight in losses. Torey Baskin of Hoffman Estates put up a 42 piece extra crsipy in Mid Suburban Conference title game loss to #16 Fremd (Palatine). Donovan "Donny" Williams of Stevenson (Lincolnshire) put up a 36 piece extra crispy in loss to Waukegan.

Game 1:

#24 Lincoln Park 52 Hyde Park Academy 43:

Lincoln Park came into the season highly hyped. I've been waiting for their arrival for four years, since I saw a few practices in this group's freshman year under previous Coaching staff of Antwon "AJ" Jennings, and Ronald "Fatty" Duling. They were let go and Head Coach Josh Anderson took over with a lot of pressure and a lot of talent in the program. People were watching to see if he would move the program forward. Putting your stamp on the program takes time, he lost some talented players to transfer to prep schools, and got to the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 of city and came up short. This senior group of Ahmad Lee, Larry Harris, and Jaylen Dickerson stuck around. They lost in December in this building to Hyde Park Academy in a surprise to most. Then they lost twice to Whitney Young, and most of us were not sure they would get over the hump. Then they beat highly regarded Richwoods (Peoria) going into the Chicago Public League playoffs. They are playing well at the right time of the year. Lee is playing like he can't be sped up, Harris is playing with his hair on fire, using his King of Bounce athleticism to have a double/double of 17 points 17 rebounds tonight. Dickerson is playing as steady and consistent like he's been all season. Add Glenbard West senior transfer Ashton Flowers, and sophomore Alvin Robinson III, and they have a rhythm. Hyde Park led 12-10 after one, then Lincoln Park took control with defense in the second quarter outscoring Hyde Park 14-4 to lead 24-16 at halftime and didn't look back.

Lincoln Park takes a 21-7 record into title game on Friday trying to make history on the North Side. Hyde Park Academy drops to 21-8 and goes into the Class 3A playoffs as a #1 seed in the DeLaSalle (Chicago) Sectional.

Curie 64 Kenwood Academy 50:

Kenwood Academy beat Curie three times last season including the Chicago Public League Title game. Curie got their get back tonight and all the senior stars Justin Oliver, Kendall Holliday, and Saquan Commings said as much after the game. They had fire in their eyes to put Kenwood out of the city playoffs and they did with precision, teamwork, and hustle, staples of the Condor program. Curie took over the game from the start leadng 15-10 after one quarter, 34-21 at recess, 47-36 after three. Curie never trailed in this game as Justin Oliver controlled the game with nice passes on drives to the rim, and half court offense. Had 4 assists to 2 turnovers.

Curie takes a 25-1 record into the title game on Friday vs Lincoln Park. They'll be trying to win their second title in three years. Kenwood Academy drops to 17-8 and goes into the Class 4A playoffs as a #7 seed in the Mount Carmel (Chicago) Sectional.
