#7 Rolling Meadows 68 Glenbrook South (Glenview) 55!!!! News and Notes November 29th, 2022!!!

Writer: Big TimBig Tim

This link is the game winning three point shot shot by sophomore Damion Porter Jr of Fenwick (Oak Park). https://twitter.com/fenwickhoops/status/1597801879307956224?s=61&t=-jZvF6nnLm4iM3-2-1g0jwI I took a trip to West Suburbs of Chicago tonight to check out the #1 player in the state Minnesota commit Cameron Christie of Rolling Meadows against upstart Glenbrook South. Here's how it went:

Cameron Christie is the best player in the state of Illinois. Apologies to Jeremy Fears Jr of West (Joliet) and Darrin Ames of Kenwood Academy (Chicago). Both are great players and will do well at the next level. Christie is just different. He's 6'6" and a point guard no matter what national analysts have him listed. He's been a point guard all his life and grew from 6'0" coming into high school to his current height. He kept the point guard skills and gets so high on his jump shot, he can score anytime he wants at the high school level. Can guard from 1-4 at this level. Uses his long arms to get hands on balls and deflections. He's also a very good defender who moves his feet to stay in front of defenders. He showed patience tonight as other teammates stepped up and scored. Didn't force his offense until he needed to. 6'7" senior forward Tsvet Sotirov is such an improved player and has taken Rolling Meadows to another level. Sotirov had 15 points on 3 three pointers tonight 4 rebounds and 5 assists. Christie scored 10 of his 26 points (on 4 of 7 from three), in the fourth quarter in a two minute stretch. Broke the game open with a 28 foot three pointer, another three from about 20 feet, and a nice Euro step the he made look easy getting through the lane and finishing. 6'6" sophomore wing Ian Militec had two big threes in that stretch off nice passes from Sotirov. Militec ended up with 14 points on 4 threes. Glenbrook South had a monster game from 6'7" junior Nick Taylor who looks like the next star for the Titans. He ended up with 19 points on 3 threes and nice drives and finishes at the rim. He was the only Titan in double figures. Glenbrook South kept the game close as it was 49-43 at end of the third quarter. Sitting in the stands I had a feeling they did not have a chance as Christie scores whenever he wants and he did to break game open. Senior guard/forward Gavin Marr had 8 points 5 rebounds 5 assists and 3 steals for Glenbrook South. Rolling Meadows goes to 5-0, Glenbrook South (Glenview) drops to 4-1 and has to visit #8 Evanston Township on Friday.

Note: Glenbard West lost to DeKalb tonight. First in state loss in two years.
