Senior forward (6'4") Avonn King was out most of December and January with knee injury. His first two games back vs Lake Forest and Benet Academy (Lisle) he was on a minutes restriction. Was cleared this week for full practices and games. Warren guards made it a point to get him the ball against the Waukegan press, and he took advantage at the rim.

Warren Township (Gurnee) 72 Waukegan 59:

First game at the Dog Pound was tight, it took a steal by Mr Basketball junior Jaxson Davis to secure the win for Warren Township (Gurnee). Didn't need those heroics this time as Warren methodoically took down Waukegan for the second time this season. They now have a 2 game lead over Waukegan and anyone else in the North Suburban Conference. Davis was his usual methodical self doing a littler bit of everything when it was needed. Waukegan got off to a great start leading by double digits early. Senior Lebron Massey (#4) hit 2 big threes off the bench then Davis made a steal and an assists to cut the lead from 20-13 to 20-17 to end the first quarter. Warren put the clamps down defensively in the second and third quarters as Waukegan only scored 16 points during that span. Warren led 36-28 at recess, and 53-36 at the end of three quarters. Game over as Waukegan tried to press and trap, but Davis and senior Braylon Walker cut up the defense with passes, mostly to King for layups. King did foul out of the game, but it was in hand at the time. Warren had 3 players in double figures in an easy win.

Warren Township (Gurnee) ups it's record to 18-2, 8-0 in North Suburban Conference, Waukegan drops to 16-6, 6-2 in North Suburban Conference.
