Benet Academy (Lisle) has not lost a game in 2023, only one all year. They were once again efficient shooting 47% from the field and 53% from three. Lost a starter early in first quarter to an ankle injury. Here we go:
Benet Academy (Lisle) 64 New Trier (Winnetka) 49: Benet lost starter and team captain Brady Kunka (6'3" senior guard) early in first quarter to an ankle injury. Sam Driscoll (6'2" senior guard) came off the bench and team did not miss a beat. Driscoll was 3 for 4 from three and hit a big one on a steal and three from corner in second half. Johns Hopkins commit Brayden Fagbemi (6'0" senior point guard) hit a fall away three at end of third quarter to make it more comfortable. Inbound pass was from Driscoll.
BRAYDEN FAGBEMI WAS HUGE AGAIN: He has been clutch all season and today was no different. He made the plays needed for his team to win on both ends of the court. He had 18 points 5 rebounds 5 assists in game. He was 6 for 13 from field, 2 for 3 from three and 4 for 4 from foul line.
NIKO ABUSARA PUT UP BIG TIME STAT LINE: 6'6" wing the Dartmouth commit had 18 points 9 rebounds 4 assists and 8 steals. He was 7 for 14 shooting and 4 for 6 from the foul line. Had a fast break dunk in last minute to put it to bed.
SAM DRISCOLL WAS HUGE OFF THE BENCH: He came in after Kunka's injury and had 11 points 6 rebounds 2 assists.
JAKE FIEGEN DID ALL HE COULD: New Trier 6'4" wing Cornell commit had 26 points on 10 for 15 shooting, 2 for 5 from three, 4 for 4 from the line, but his team could not get any traction in second half.
Benet Academy (Lisle) advances to title game against Moline with a 35-1 record. New Trier (Winnetka) advances to third place game with a 31-5 record.
