Big Tim Holiday Tournament Superlatives December 28th, 2023!!!!!

Here's a few headlines today:




#1 Brother Rice (Chicago) survives in overtime against Auburn (Rockford) at Hinsdale Central. Junior Marcos Gonzales scored 25 points with his constant attacking the paint. Has a division one offer from Radford (VA). Has a date with Marian Catholic (Chicago Heights) in semifinals. DePaul College Prep (Chicago) continues their defensive ways allowing only 33 points to host Hinsdale Central. Has a date with East (Oswego) in semifinals.


Sophomore Amir Danforth of Auburn (Rockford) is one of the top 10 sophomores in the state. Had 30 piece in overtime loss to #1 Brother Rice (Chicago) .


Freshman Jaxson Davis of Warren Township (Gurnee) goes for 28 tonight at Proviso West. Averaging 28.5 PPG in tournament. They have a date with Kenwood Academy (Chicago) tomorrow in semifinals. Guilford (Rockford) upset Whitney Young (Chicago) in quarterfinals. They've also beaten Simeon Career Academy (Chicago) this season. Not many beat both those teams in one season. Malachi Johnson 18 points and dagger three to put it out of reach. Has a date with Lincoln Park (Chicago) who scored 31 points in fourth quarter to beat Proviso East by 1 in semifinals.


Metamora vs North (Downers Grove) Palatine vs Bolingbrook Semifinals of Jack Tosh at York. Tyler Mason, a Winona State commit went for 29 today. JT Pettigrew of Bolingbrook 18 points and a couple of nasty dunks, one off a pass off the backboard from freshman Davion Thompson.


Junior combo guard Kaidan Chatham of Niles North (Skokie) goes for 20 points 17 rebounds (double/double) in loss to Marian Catholic (Chicago Heights) at Hinsdale Central. Division One prospect that coaches need to check out.


Mount Carmel (Chicago) is in the title game at Pekin vs Lake Park (Roselle). They are defending champ of the event.



Pontiac started today. Simeon Career Academy (Chicago) survived first round.


Glenbrook North (Northbrook) got revenge on Libertyville for upset loss in Wheeling Hardwood Classic title game last year in blowout fashion.


Undefeated Waubonsie Valley (Aurora) won the Hinkle Classic at Jacobs (Algonquin).
