I've thought long and hard about who should win this award. Teams were limited by their conferences on their scheduling. Since this was the case I'm going with co- players of the year. Max Christie of Rolling Meadows and Bryce Hopkins of Fenwick(Oak Park). The first write-up by alphabetical order is Christie.
MAX CHRISTIE(Rolling Meadows)- McDonald's All-American 6'7" guard was outstanding all year long. All time leading scorer in Mid Suburban Conference history with exactly 2100 points. All time leading scorer in Rolling Meadows history. Led team to an undefeated(15-0) abbreviated season and #3 ranking. Michigan State commit is a gifted offensive player who can score on all three levels. He's a knockdown three point shooter, has a nice spin move to get to the basket and finish with either hand, and nasty two dribble pull-up from mid range. He averaged 25 points 10 rebounds(double/double) 4 assists 3 steals and 2 blocks a game. He was also 91 percent from the foul line which is a school record. He filled out the stat sheet while leading the Mustangs to their first Mid Suburban Conference title in 30 years. Christie also hit a couple of half court shots this year to end quarters. I've followed his career since his freshman year. My first write-up which unfortunately is not up anymore: https://www.aseaofblue.com/2018/1/6/16852392/max-christie-a-future-kentucky-target?fbclid=IwAR2XAsrZzJKXSQ6qEMJ5N5b3Kup9YxH7xUmoerpZEuQgyi2kKkm-qPygja4. Kentucky never did recruit him but you could see the talent right away. Christie is a high character young man who never complained to the officials even when he thought he was fouled. He braved double and triple teams, gimmick defense, and physical play from every team he played from sophomore year on. Congrats to Max Christie on an excellent high school career and co-player of the year.
