Seeding week for boys basketball as the meetings are Wednesday and they come out Thursday with the matchups out Friday. Number 1 is the same this week. Chicago Public League Playoffs continue with Quarterfinals (Tuesday), Semifinals (Thursday), Title game (Saturday). Here we go:
1) Benet Academy (Lisle) (25-1) (4A): Senior guard Brady Kunka had a double/double Friday at Marian Catholic (Chicago Heights) in win. Host St Patrick (Chicago) on Tuesday. Friday at Marist (Chicago).
2) Hillcrest (Country Club Hills) (25-2) (3A): Beat Richards (Oak Lawn). Thursday at Thornton Fractional North. Have not lost to a Chicago Area opponent. Has two game lead for Southwest Suburban Blue Title.
3) Simeon Career Academy (Chicago) (23-3) (3A): Lost to Vashon (St Louis, MO). Host North Lawndale College Prep (Chicago) on Tuesday in Chicago Public League Quarterfinals.
4) Kenwood Academy (Chicago) (21-5) (4A): Won first two rounds of Chicago Public League Playoffs easily. Host #22 Wendell Phillips (Chicago) on Tuesday in Chicago Public League Quarterfinals.
5) West (Joliet) (22-5) (4A): Beat Cathedral (Indianapolis) over the weekend. Stranglehold on Southwest Prairie East Title. Tuesday at South (Plainfield),
6) Whitney Young (Chicago) (21-5) (4A): Breezed through first two rounds of Chicago Public League Playoffs. Host #17 Curie (Chicago) on Tuesday in Chicago Public League Quarterfinals.
7) Brother Rice (Chicago) (24-3) (4A): Beat Mount Carmel at home to stay within reach of Chicago Catholic League Blue title. Hosts #25 DePaul College Prep (Chicago) on Friday.
8) Hinsdale Central (24-3) (4A): Beat Oak Park River Forest and East (Plainfield). Holds a half game lead in tough West Suburban Silver.
9) New Trier (Winnetka) (25-4) (4A): Beat Evanston Township to sweep series and likely clinch #1 seed in New Trier Sectional. Host #`12 Glenbrook North (Northbrook) likely for Central Suburban South Title.
10) North (Downers Grove) (23-3) (4A): Beat Glenbrook South (Glenview). Currently is in second place in West Suburban Silver by half a game.
11) Rolling Meadows (24-4) (4A): Has clinched Mid Suburban East Title. Big seeding game at #12 Glenbrook North (Northbrook) on Tuesday.
12) Glenbrook North (23-3) (4A): Two huge games this week. Big seeding game hosting #11 Rolling Meadows on Tuesday, then at #9 New Trier (WInnetka) on Friday likely for Central Suburban South Title.
13) Hyde Park Academy (Chicago) (25-5) (3A): Beat Bogan (Chicago) and Farragut Career Academy (Chicago) in first two rounds of Chicago Public League Playoffs. Host Perspectives Leadership (Chicago) on Tuesday in Chicago Public League Quarterfinals.
14) Bolingbrook (21-6) (4A): Beat #20 Lincoln Way East (Frankfort) for the second time this season. Takes a stranglehold on the Southwest Suburban Blue Conference.
15) East (Oswego) (22-5) (4A): Beat Minooka and Yorkville to take commanding lead in Southwest Prairie West.
16) Mount Carmel (Chicago) (21-5) (3A): Lost three in a row this week to fall off the pace in Chicago Catholic League Blue. Marmion Academy (Aurora) and Brother Rice are conference losses. Went to Wisconsin and lost to Franklin (WI). Still have time to get it together for playoffs.
17) Curie (Chicago) (18-9) (4A): Breezed over Agraicultural Science (Chicago) and won over Lincoln Park (Chicago) by forfeit. Visits #6 Whitney Young (Chicago) on Tuesday in Chicago Public League Quarterfinals.
18) St Rita (Chicago) (16-10) (4A): Beat Providence Catholic (New Lenox) and now controls their own destiny in Chicago Catholic League Blue as they are in sole possession of first place.
19) Lyons Township (LaGrange) (21-4) (4A): Lost at York (Elmhurst), won at Hinsdale South (Darien).
20) Lincoln Way East (Frankfort) (21-4) (4A): Lost to #14 Bolingbrook for second time this season.
21) Glenbrook South (Glenview) (20-8) (4A): Lost at rival #12 Glenbrook North (Northbrook). Seeding will be key or them this week to getting out of Regional.
22) Wendell Phillips (Chicago) (16-8) (2A): New to the poll. Senior Jaheim Savage has had an outstanding season. Beat Longwood (Chicago) and Orr Academy (Chicago) in first two rounds of Chicago Public League Playoffs. Visits #4 Kenwood Academy (Chicago) on Tuesday in Chicago Public League Quarterfinals.
23) Wheaton Warrenville South (22-4) (4A): Lost to East (St Charles) and Sussex Hamilton (WI) in Wisconsin. Still has one game lead in Dukane Conference.
24) Proviso East (Maywood) (19-6) (4A): Back in poll as they beat previously ranked Bloom Township (Chicago Heights).
25) DePaul College Prep (Chicago) (16-9) (2A): Back in poll after long absence. Top two players juniors Jaylan McElroy(6'7") and Payton Kamin (6'8") are back in the lineup. They beat previously ranked St Ignatius College Prep (Chicago) by double digits. Look for a long playoff run in Class 2A. Friday at #7 Brother Rice (Chicago).
