1) Glenbard West(Glen Ellyn)(6-0)- Tight game with #7 Glenbrook South(Glenview). Senior Paxton Warden came up big in that game. #1 player in state Braden Huff has been consistently good in scoring. Big time games Friday at #17 Christian(Yorkville) and Saturday vs #4 Hillcrest(Country Club Hills) at Team Rose Shootout at Mount Carmel(Chicago)
2) Kenwood Academy(3-0)-Junior Davius Loury had a quadruple double this week and 20 on Saturday at Chicago Elite Classic. Junior point guard Darrin "Dai Dai" Ames scored 30 on Saturday at Chicago Elite Classic. Two games in Bartlett,TN this coming weekend.
3) Whitney Young(0-1)- Tough loss to Gonzaga(DC) at Chicago Elite Classic without junior Daniel Johnson. Chicago Public League play starts this week.
4) Hillcrest(6-0)- Junior forward Matt Moore has stepped up his game and will have to come up big on Saturday. Saturday vs #1 Glenbard West at Team Rose Shootout at Mount Carmel(Chicago).
5) Simeon Career Academy(3-0)- Junior forward Rubin twins(Wes and Miles) played well vs Mater Dei(CA) at Chicago Elite Classic. Settling in. Saturday big game in Bartlett,TN.
6) New Trier(Winnetka)(6-0)- Huge game Thursday at home vs #7 Glenbrook South(Glenview). Senior Jackson Munro will have to come up big on the inside.
7) Glenbrook South(Glenview)(6-1)- Tough 3 point loss to #1 Glenbard West(Glen Ellyn). Huge game on Thursday at #6 New Trier(Winnetka). Seniors Cooper Noard and Nick Martinelli are having big time senior seasons.
8) Leo(Chicago)(1-0)- Big time Class 2A title contender. Senior Cam Cleveland came up big vs St Ignatius. Sunday vs #10 Curie(Chicago) at Team Rose Shootout at Mount Carmel(Chicago).
9) DePaul College Prep(Chicago)(5-0)- Backcourt of seniors Trevon Thomas, Anthony Gutierrez, and sophomore Payton Kamin are playing very well.
10) Curie(Chicago)(7-0)- Senior Phoenix Bullock and sophomore Carlos Harris is one of the best backcourts in the state. Sunday vs #8 Leo(Chicago) at Team Rose Shootout at Mount Carmel(Chicago).
11) Bolingbrook(5-0)- Senior Michael Osei-Bonsu had a double/double this week. Junior point guard Mekhi Cooper is balancing scoring and assisting very well. Wednesday vs #23 Marian Catholic(Chicago Heights).
12) Wheaton Warrenville South(6-0)- A team I have to start watching more closely.
13) Orr Career Academy(2-0)- Can they win a 4th straight Class 2A title? Senior point guard Leonte Lilly will be key. Chicago Public League Red North/West play starts this week.
14) Thornton Township(4-1)- Big time win over St Rita(Chicago). Senior forward's Ty Rodgers had a triple double this past week and has been a consistent stud.
15) St Rita(Chicago)(4-2)- Lost to #14 Thornton Township(Harvey) at Chicago Elite Classic. Sophomore trio of Morez Johnson Jr, James Brown, and Jaein Reyna are growing up. Junior Kaiden Space had a good week.
16) Riverside Brookfield(5-1)- Sum bigger than it's parts. Dangerous team.
17) Christian(Yorkville)(4-3)- Senior Duke commit Jaden Schutt is putting up big numbers against a tough schedule. No sight so far of junior guard Braden Long. #1 Glenbard West(Glenview) comes calling on Friday at home.
18) Oak Park River Forest(3-2)- Senior Denver commit Justin Mullins and junior Sam Lewis came up big vs crosstown rival Fenwick(Oak Park) with double/doubles.
19) Rolling Meadows(4-1)- Senior guard Orlando Thomas and junior Cameron Christie have controlled proceedings most of the season so far.
20) Brother Rice(Chicago)(4-1)- Ahmad Henderson II just controls things offensively every time he steps on the court. Lincoln Way East junior transfer Kahlil Ross has been a great help with scoring load. Saturday vs #23 Marian Catholic(Chicago Heights) is a big game.
21) Mount Carmel(Chicago)(6-0)- Junior Deandre Craig is one of the most underrated guards in the state. They play a tough Westinghouse team on Sunday at Team Rose Shootout on their home court.
22) Proviso East(Maywood)(4-0)- Johnson brothers senior Javoni and junior Jaloni are playing very well for an excellent start to the season.
23) Marian Catholic(Chicago Heights(5-1)- New to the poll. Senior Jeremiah Jones is making his case as one of the top guards in the Chicago Area. Wednesday at #11 Bolingbrook should be a good one.
24) Batavia(6-0)-New to the poll. Trent Tousana hits a three at buzzer to beat Huntley. Senior Ethan Ivan is very underrated forward.
25) Lincoln Park(Chicago)(6-0)- New to the poll. Starts five guards and puts a lot of pressure on opponents. Senior Chris Hammonds Jr is a stone cold scorer. Senior Chikere Nwosu is a big time attacker of the rim. Westinghouse(Chicago) comes calling on Friday.
