Lots of activity with Thanksgiving tournaments all over the state. Lots of movement in the top 25. 14 ranked teams lost this week, some of them twice. 6 teams dropped out. I have a feeling this is going to be a wild year. Look for some god match ups this coming week with Chicago Elite Classic and Ridgewood Shootout as big events.
1) Glenbard West(Glen Ellyn)(3-0)- Won Glenbard District tournament as this team showed their team ball. Seniors Braden Huff, Caden Pierce, and Bobby Durkin big weeks. Tuesday: Hosts DeKalb, Friday: Hosts #19 Lyons(LaGrange), Sunday: #6 Glenbrook South(Glenview) at Ridgewood Shootout.
2) Whitney Young(Chicago)(0-0)- Idle. Opens season this week. #2 senior AJ Casey is ready to show he's the best in the state. Saturday: Gongaza(Washington,DC) at Chicago Elite Classic at UIC Pavilion.
3) Kenwood Academy(1-0)- Beat Farragut(Chicago) at Orr Academy Classic. Trey Pettigrew had a double/double in points and assists, junior Dai Dai Ames recovered from left wrist injury to put up double digits. Transfers sophomore Jaden Smith, senior Darius Robinson, and junior Solomon Mosley did not play. Saturday vs Evangel Christian(Louisville,Ky) at Chicago Elite Classic at UIC Pavilion.
4) Hillcrest(Country Club Hills)(4-0)- Won Bloom/Marian Catholic Thanksgiving tournament. 17 game win streak. Junior point guard Bryce Tillery played well as did his backcourt mate sophomore Isaiah Green. Big men junior Matthew Moore had a nasty dunk in semifinals. Friday Hosts Richards(Oak Park).
5) Simeon Career Academy(Chicago)(2-0)- Started the season with two blowout victories. Flying a little bit under the radar to start the season. Schedule will heat up real soon.

6) Glenbrook South(Glenview)(4-0)- Won Palatine Thanksgiving Tournament with big time blowout victories. Senior Elon commit Nick Martinelli started his season with big games to get into Player Of The Year discussion. Senior Cornell commit point guard Cooper Noard showed his shooting stroke and playmaking abilities. Big week ahead. Tuesday Hosts #17 Lake Forest, Friday Hosts Evanston Township, Sunday vs #1 Glenbard West(Glenview) at Ridgewood Shootout.
7) New Trier(Winnetka)(4-0)- Won Loyola/New Trier Thanksgiving Tournament beating Lake Forest in title game. Senior Dartmouth commit Jackson Munro vs Most Valuable Player. Josh Kirkpatrick, Peter Kanellos, and junior Jack Fiegen made all tournament. Friday at Maine South(Park Ridge), Saturday Hosts Hersey(Arlington Heights).
8) St Rita(Chicago)(3-1)- Lost to Vashon(St Louis,Mo) in Washington(IL) Tournament of Champions Title Game. Sophomore forwards Morez Johnson Jr(Co-MVP) an Illinois commit, and James Brown averaged close to a double/double. Freshman Melvin Bell had a monster high school debut. Friday Hosts DeLaSalle(Chicago), Saturday vs #16 Thornton(Harvey) at Chicago Elite Classic at UIC Pavilion.
9) Leo(Chicago)(0-0)- Idle. Opens season this week. Friday at #21 St Ignatius College Prep.
10) DePaul College Prep(Chicago)(4-0)- Won Battle Of The Bridge. Senior guard Anthony Gutierrez won Most Valuable Player. Shares backcourt with another all tournament selection Trevon Thomas another senior. Recovering nicely from losing 5 starters. Friday Hosts Evergreen Park.
11) Curie(Chicago)(5-0)- Won Riverside Brookfield Thanksgiving Tournament. Senior guard Phoenix Bullock played well all week as did fellow guard Carlos Harris a sophomore. Junior Jeremy Harrington Jr handled business on the interior. Friday Hosts Fenger(Chicago).
12) Bolingbrook(3-0)-Decatur Champs. Junior point guard Mekhi Cooper was Most Valuable Player. Junior Donoven Younger and senior Michael Osei-Bonsu made All Tournament. Friday at Stagg(Palos Hills).
13) Christian(Yorkville)(2-2)- Lost to St Rita(Chicago) and Lanpher(Springfield)- Duke commit Jaden Schutt made All Tournament at Washington(IL) Thanksgiving Tournament. Saturday Tinley(Indianapolis,IN), Sunday vs St Patrick(Chicago) at Ridgewood Shootout.
14) Warrenville South(Wheaton)(4-0)- Enters rankings. Won Fenton Tournament. Friday Hosts North(St Charles), Saturday Central(Naperville).
15) Orr Career Academy(2-0)- Perennial Class 2A Champs enter rankings. Senior point guard Leonte Lilly is the leader. Senior forward Caleb Hannah is a sleeper to look out for. Senior sharp shooter Cam Lawin is a knockdown three point shooter. Wednesday Hosts Farragut(Chicago), Friday at Michelle Clark(Chicago).
16) Thornton Township (Harvey)(2-1)- Lost to Bolingbrook at Decatur. Senior Illinois commit Ty Rodgers and senior Kelsey Tarver were All Tournament. Friday at Crete Monee, Saturday #8 St Rita(Chicago) at Chicago Elite Classic at UIC Pavilion.
17) Lake Forest(3-1)- Lost to #7 New Trier(Winnetka) in Loyola/New Trier Thanksgiving Tournment Title Game. Junior Asa Thomas made All Tournament. Tuesday at #6 Glenbrook South(Glenview), Saturday at Libertyville.
18) Riverside Brookfield(3-1)- Lost to #11 Curie(Chicago) by 2 in Riverside Brookfield Title Game without last years top scorer Joevonn McCottry. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic, Saturday Hosts #19 Lyons Township (LaGrange).
19) Lyons Township (LaGrange)(3-0)- Enters rankings. Won Lyons Township Thanksgiving Tournament. Akron commit Tavari Johnson has been excellent. Tough schedule this week. Friday at #1 Glenbard West(Glen Ellyn), Saturday at #18 Riverside Brookfield.
20) Oak Park River Forest(2-2) Big drop with 2 losses at Riverside Brookfield Thanksgiving Tournament. Friday vs Fenwick(Oak Park) Battle of Oak Park at Chicago Elite Classic at UIC Pavilion.
21) St Ignatius(Chicago)(2-2)- Losses to Lake Forest and Loyola Academy(Wilmette). Doesn't get any easier for them. Tuesday at Christ The King(Chicago), Friday at #9 Leo(Chicago), Saturday, Chaminade(St Louis, MO) at Chicago Elite Classic at UIC Pavilion.

25) Proviso East(Maywood)(5-0)-New to rankings. Won St Charles East Thanksgiving Tournament. Johnson brother senior Javon, junior Javoni have been a revelation this season. Friday Hosts Leyden.
