Big Tim's Illinois High School Basketball Poll Week 4!!!!!

I missed a week folks, just wanted things to percolate before doing the rankings. A big time game featuring #1 Sacred Heart Griffin (Springfield) and West (Joliet) was postponed for incoming blizzard. Here we go:


1) Sacred Heart Griffin (Springfield) (7-0) (3A): They've rolled to start the season with average margin of victory over 30 points a game. Football players like senior guards Air Force football commit Ke'Shon Singleton and Quincy commit Jake Hamilton have not missed a beat. Senior forward Zack Hawkinson getting double/doubles. Opportunity to play in the Chicago Elite Classic Sayonara Edition against West (Joliet) was postponed. Hopefully it will get rescheduled.


2) Simeon Career Academy (Chicago) (8-0) (3A): Won a couple of games in Bentonville, AR. Rolling along through the season so far. Have a tough one against Whitney Young (Chicago) on Friday at Chicago Elite Classic Sayonara Edition before annual trip to Pontiac Holliday Tournament.


3) Moline (8-1) (4A): Have not lost to an in state opponent. Iowa commits point guard Brock Harding and forward Owen Freeman have been highly productive and running a great two man game. Supporting cast will have to be consistent producers to keep them contenders for Champaign.


4) Kenwood Academy (Chicago) (8-1) (4A): Beat St Mary College Prep (MI) at Chicago Coaches Classic at Triton College. Senior point guard Kansas State commit Darrin Ames has picked up his scoring lately. Hosts Farragut Career Academy (Chicago) on Friday before heading to Proviso West (Hillside) Holiday Tournament.


5) West (Joliet) (9-2) (4A): Breezed through their two games this week as sophomore guard Jeremiah Fears continues to put up nice scoring numbers. Big game Friday against the #1 Class 3A team in the state defending champ Sacred Heart Griffin (Springfield) at Chicago Elite Classic Sayonara Edition.


6) Benet Academy (Lisle) (10-0) (4A): Won two games last week as senior Johns Hopkins commit Brayden Fagbemi had a big scoring game on Friday in win over Marian Catholic (Chicago Heights). They have a few games in Arizona this week before heading to Pontiac Holiday Tournament.


7) Whitney Young (Chicago) (8-4) (4A): Went 1-1 in Bentonville, AR over the weekend. Senior wing Daniel Johnson has hit the glass hard lately with a few double/double's. Senior point guard Princeton commit Dalen Davis has had some big scoring games against tough competition. Plays #1 Simeon Career Academy (Chicago) on Friday at Chicago Elite Classic Sayonara Edition. Afterwards they head to the Proviso West (Hillside) Holiday Tournament.


8) St Ignatius College Prep (Chicago) (9-1) (3A): Junior guard Reggie Ray has been a big time presence this season with his slashing ability. Better start to this season than they had last season. Visits Lane Tech (Chicago).


9) Metamora (7-2) (3A): Have won 5 in a row as senior wing South Alabama commit Ethan Kizer has been productive scoring and on the glass. Has gotten good guard play from junior point guard Tyler Mason and all around play from senior wing Tyson Swanson.


10) Glenbrook North (Northbrook) (10-0) (4A): Junior Josh Fridman had another high scoring game and fellow junior and Northwestern football commit Patrick Schaller is hitting the glass. Hosts Prospect (Mount Prospect) on Tuesday before heading to Wheeling Hardwood Classic.


11) Rolling Meadows (10-1) (4A): Senior point guard Minnesota commit Cameron Christie has had a great start to this season. When will senior wing Tsvet Sotirov come back from injury. Thursday hosts Elk Grove before heading to the Jack Tosh Holiday Tournament at York (Elmhurst)


12) East St Louis (8-1) (3A): Lost a tight one to Collinsville but bounced back to beat Hillcrest (Country Club Hills) as senior wing Kansas State commit came close to a 20/20 game. Also won over as Missouri team as Rich was MVP of the Norm Stewart Classic. Scheduled to play two games this week at Western Kentucky Hoops Classic.


13) MacArthur (Decatur) (10-0) (3A): Had a couple of blowouts this week and is looking like a Class 3A contender. They host a Sectional this year. Top players are senior center Mekhi Wright (6'7"), senior guard Chase Cunningham (6'2") and Sam Owens. Good young player in sophomore guard King Dees. Will head to Collinsville Holiday Classic next week.


14) St Rita (Chicago) (6-3) (4A): Junior forward Illinois commit Morez Johnson Jr has had a monster start to the season and is dominating the Chicago Catholic League at the moment. Big game on Friday vs Cathedral (Indianapolis) and Michigan State commit big man Xavier Booker at Chicago Elite Classic Sayonara Edition. Afterwards they head to the Proviso West (Hillside) Holiday Tournament.


15) Brother Rice (Chicago) (11-1) (4A): Won their two games this week with no resistance.


16) North (Downers Grove) (9-1) (4A): Won both games this week with a big team effort. They play a 10 man rotation that does a little bit of everything.


17) Hillcrest (Country Club Hills) (11-1) (3A): Senior wing Quentin Heady has been a consistent performer on both ends of the court. Senior point guard Bryce Tillery has been consistent on both ends and upped his three point shooting. They are back at the Big Dipper (Richton Park) this year.


18) Hyde Park Academy (Chicago) (10-1) (3A): Junior Jurrell Baldwin has been consistently getting double/double's in points and rebounds.


19) Lyons Township (LaGrange) (7-0) (4A): Quietly been putting together a terrific season at this early juncture. They will be at the Jack Tosh Holiday Tournament at York (Elmhurst).


20) New Trier (Winnetka) (11-1) (4A): Won a tournament in Scottsdale (AZ). Senior guard Colgate commit Jake Fiegen was MVP. Senior University of Chicago soccer commit Evan Kanellos and junior guard Logan Feller made all tournament. Thursday Evanston Township comes calling at Northwestern University.


21) Lemont (10-0) (3A): Wisconsin Parkside commits Rokas and Matas Castillo take turns having high scoring games in impressive wins. Junior point guard Ryan Runaas has been a welcome addition to the three guard lineup.


22) Quincy (9-1) (4A): Lost a tough one at #3 Moline but has handled the rest of their schedule. Sophomore guard Bradley Longcoor III (6'3") has played some quality basketball to start the season. Other top players are junior wing Camden Brown (6'5") and sophomore wing KeShaun Thomas (6'6"). Will head for Collinsville Holiday Classic next week.


23) East (Belleville) (10-0) (4A): Have run through their mostly St Louis Area schedule with ease so far. Top players are senior guards Southern Illinois Edwardsville commit Jordan Pickett (6'4"), Mason Mosley (5'10") and wing Antwine Wilson (6'4").


24) Lincoln Way East (Frankfort) (9-1) (4A): Senior guard Ty Tolliver has been putting up good numbers this season. Senior forward George Bellevue had a monster dunk over a defender on Friday.


25) Mount Carmel (Chicago) (10-1) (4A): Junior wing Angelo Ciaravino has been a consititen contributor scoring and hitting the glass.
