Some movement as a couple of teams lost and one picked up a high win after a loss. Here we go:
Glenbrook North (Northbrook) (8-0) (4A): Beat Evanston Township on the road. Had a slow start but picked it up in the second half for 15 point win. Senior forward Northwestern football commit Patrick Schaller led with 14 points. Led 3 other players in double figures. Balanced scoring with multiple scoring threats. 2-0 in Central Suburban South play. Tough one tonight at Prospect (Mount Prospect).
2) Warren Township (Gurnee) (8-1) (4A): Young team is rolling in the early season. Beat up on North Suburban Conference foes Libertyville and Stevenson. Taking advantage of the home games on the front end. Will be road warriors second half of the season. Junior Javerion Banks has had a great start to season scoring the basketball. Host Mundelein tonight, hosts a tough West (Joliet) team.
3) New Trier (Winnetka) (7-1) (4A): Beat Deerfield and Hampshire with no problem. Balanced scoring has been the theme this season for the Trevians. 2-0 start in Central Suburban Conference play. Played Zion Benton last night now heads to Arizona for a couple of games.
4) Loyola Academy (Wilmette) (7-2) (4A): Beat rival St Ignatius College Prep (Chicago) to win Jesuit Cup again. Tough defensive team at all positions. Senior Andrew Hollerich has helped fellow senior Miles Boland with the scoring load lately. Play St Frances De Sales (Chicago), big one at area ranked DePaul College Prep (Chicago) on Friday, then plays Taft (Chicago) on Sunday.
5) Niles North (Skokie) (6-1) (4A): Took care of rival Niles West (Skokie) in Central Suburban North showdown. Did it in blowout fashion as the junior backcourt duo of Yaris Irby and Reid Olson put it on them again scoring wise. Tough one hosting #6 Lake Forest tonight than back to league play Friday hosting Vernon Hills, then hosting Taft (Chicago) on Saturday.
6) Lake Forest (6-2) (3A): Jumped a couple of spots. Beat Waukegan then Libertyville as Senior Tommie Aberle scored his 1000th point. Junior Hudson Scroggins has impressed. Visits #5 Niles North (Skokie) tonight then hosts Stevenson (Lincolnshire) on Friday.
7) Glenbrook South (Glenview) (6-2) (4A): Lost at Oak Park River Forest so dropped 4 spots. Senior Winona State commit Nick Taylor is playing well. Hosts Glenbard West (Glen Ellyn) tonight.
8) Evanston Township (6-2) (4A): Dropped one spot. Lost to #1 Glenbrook North (Northbrook) at home. They came back with impressive victory the next day over previous Chicago Area ranked Marian Catholic (Chicago Heights ). Seniors Morgan Brown, Brandon Watson, and Antoine Jones had solid performances. Hosts Carmel Catholic (Mundelein) tonight, before hosting Maine South (Park Ridge) on Friday.
9) Wauconda (4-1) (3A): New to the poll. They have a big time scorer in Mercer commit Braeden Carlsen and Wheaton College commit Cayden Mudd. Tyler Tylka is another contributor. Look out for freshman Austin Carlsen. Thursday at Lakes (Lake Villa), Friday at Grant Community.
