Writer: Big TimBig Tim

Big Tim’s Top 10 teams in North Suburbs this week:

Change at the top. Seeding positions on the line this week as we are two weeks from seeding meetings. Here we go:

1) Glenbrook North (Northbrook) (20-2) (4A): Big win over New Trier (Winnetka) to tie for Central Suburban South lead with the Trevians and huge for New Trier Sectional seeding. Rematch will be after seeding meeting. Visits Evanston Township on Friday.

2) New Trier (Winnetka) (18-4) (4A): Lost at Gkenbrook North (Northbrook) to fall into a tie for Central Suburban South lead. Likely dropped a seed line with loss. Second game with Glenbrook North AFTER the sectional seeding meetings. Another big one hosting #3 Glenbrook South on Friday. Plays DePaul College Prep (Chicago) on Saturday at War on the Shore at Evanston Township.

3) Glenbrook South (Glenview) (18-4) (4A):Playing very well with 7 straight wins. Huge game at #2 New Trier (Winnetka) on Friday. They’ve lost to Rolling Meadows twice this season. Plays Auburn (Rockford) on Saturday at Glenbrook South (Glenview) Shootout.

4) Loyola Academy (Wilmette) (18-6) (4A): Moved into poll though did lose to Taft (Chicago) over the weekend. Miles Borland and Alex Engro are leaders of the team. Plays Bolingbrook on Saturday at War on the Shore at Evanston Township.

5) Evanston Township (15-6) (4A): Defense is back on track with win at Niles West (Skokie). Some injuries have healed and close to having a full squad back for stretch run. Big games to move up a couple of seeding lines with games the next two weeks. Hosts #1 Glenbrook North (Northbrook) on Friday. Notre Dame College Prep (Niles) on Saturday at War on the Shore at Evanston Township.

6) Niles North (Skokie) (18-4) (4A): Sophomore laden team can cause problems for a Top 4 Sectional seed. If guards Yaris Irby and Reid Olson get hot from three in the Regionals, could be a long night for a favorite.

7) Libertyville (16-4) (4A): Lost at Warren (Gurnee) by 5 points so drops one spot in poll. Plays #9 Lake Forest on Tuesday.

😎 Stevenson (Lincolnshire) (15-4) (4A) Lost at Prospect (Mount Prospect) by 1 so drops one spot. Hosts Mundelein on Friday.

9) Lake Forest (13-8) (3A): Will be favorite in the Central (Grayslake) Sectional. They will have the best player in it with Clemson commit Asa Thomas.

10) Warren (Gurnee) (12-10) (4A): Beat Libertyville to get into fourth place in North Suburban Conference.
