Big Tim's Top 25 in Chicago Area after Week 14!!!! Regionals are over Sectionals are this coming week!!!!!

Regional champs move on, others their season is over and time to start travel basketball. Sectional semifinals are on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sectional Finals are on Friday. Here we go:





  1. Curie (Chicago) (29-2) (4A): Won Lyons Township Regional with win over host who had ended their season the last two years. Tuesday vs Whitney Young (Chicago) at Riverside Brookfield Sectional.


2) DePaul College Prep (Chicago) (30-2) (3A): Breezed through Carmel (Mundelein) Regional choking the host in the final. Held them to 32 points. Trying to go back to back but in different classes. Tuesday vs Notre Dame College Prep (Chicago) at St Viator (Arlington Heights) Sectional.


3) Homewood Flossmoor (28-4) (4A): Breezed through Stagg (Palos Hills) Regional. Tuesday vs West (Joliet) at Rich Township (Richton Park) Sectional.


4) Thornton Township (Harvey) (27-4) (3A):Boat raced through the Thornton Fractional North (Calumet City) Regional. Host the Sectional and plays Evergreen Park (won their first regional in 50 years) on Tuesday.


5) Brother Rice (Chicago) (3A): Recliner boys reclined their way through their own regional. Has a chance at revenge on Wednesday against Marian Catholic (Chicago Heights) who beat them in double overtime at the Hinsdale Central Holiday Tournament.


6) Bolingbrook (26-4) (4A): Won a tough Yorkville Regional as junior JT Pettigrew dominated both games. Tuesday vs #15 Benet Academy (Lisle) at East (Aurora) Sectional.


7) North (Downers Grove) (29-4) (4A): Won their own regional in dominant fashion. Looking for a repeat trip to Champaign. Wednesday vs #10 Waubonsie Valley (Aurora) at East (Aurora) Sectional.


8) Mount Carmel (Chicago) (28-5) (3A): Just made a mockery of there teams in their own regional. Tuesday vs Hyde Park Academy (Chicago), a neighborhood rivalry as they are around the corner from each other. Game will be played at Hinsdale South (Darien)


9) Warren Township (Gurnee) (29-4) (4A): Won their own regional though Waukegan made it tough to be a them a third time in Regional Final. Freshman point guard Jaxson Davis dominated the regional. Tuesday vs DeKalb in Guilford (Rockford) Sectional at Rock Valley College.


10) Waubonsie Valley (Aurora) (27-2) (4A): Won Metea Valley (Aurora) Regional. Wednesday vs #7 North (Downers Grove) at East (Aurora) Sectional.


11) Kankakee (27-4) (3A): Won Streator Sub-Regional as sophomore Lincoln Williams is back and healthy. Wednesday vs Richwoods (Peoria) at Pontiac Sectional.


12) Marist (Chicago) (29-4) (4A): Won Thornwood (South Holland) Regional. Wednesday vs Bloom Township (Chicago Heights) at Rich Township (Richton Park) Sectional.


13) Kenwood Academy (Chicago) (24-7) (4A): Lost some players this week as IHSA ruled 5 players ineligible. Freshman Devin Cleveland took advantage and dominated their own Regional. Moved up some freshman and sophomores to varsity. Lost an injunction to have ineligible players play under a court order. Wednesday vs Simeon Career Academy (Chicago) at Riverside Brookfield Sectional.


14) Beecher (32-0) (2A): Had a tight regional final with Catholic Academy (Joliet) but survived as senior point guard Adyn McGinley was clutch with 26 points. Won only the second regional in history. Wednesday vs B Henning-Rossville-Alvin (Bismarck) at Central (Clifton) Sectional.


15) Benet Academy (Lisle) (27-6) (4A): Won East (Oswego) Regional beating the host in Regional Final. Sophomore Jayden Wright got hot from outside in first half that carried them through. Tuesday vs #6 Bolingbrook at East (Aurora) Sectional.


16) Lake Park (Roselle) (29-3) (4A): Won Willowbrook (Villa Park) regional with pretty much no problem. Tuesday vs Glenbard North (Carol Stream) at Addison Trail (Addison) Sectional. Will have to beat them a third time.


17) Loyola Academy (Wilmette) (27-6) (4A): Won Maine East (Park Ridge) Regional in a breeze. Tuesday vs #23 New Trier (Winnetka) at Maine South (Park Ridge) Sectional. lost to the Trevians by 3 at Thanksgiving tournament.


18) South (Crystal Lake) (29-3) (3A): Survived regional semifinal with rival Central (Crystal Lake). Won more comfortably in Cary Grove (Cary) Regional final. Tuesday vs Freeport at Kaneland (Maple Park) Sectional.


19) Lake Forest (24-7) (3A): Breezed through North Chicago Regional. Tuesday vs Ridgewood (Norridge) at St Viator (Arlington Heights) Sectional.


20) Barrington (21-5) (4A): Won Dundee Crown (Carpentersville) Regional. Tuesday vs Stevenson (Lincolnshire) at Elgin Sectional.


21) Glenbrook North (Northbrook) (25-7) (4A): Won Lane Tech College Prep (Chicago) regional beating the host in the final. Tuesday vs rival #22 Glenbrook South (Glenview) in Maine South Sectional. Will have to beat them a third time.


22) Glenbrook South (Glenview) (26-6) (4A): Won their own regional pretty easily. Tuesday vs rival #21 Glenbrook North (Northbrook) at Maine South (Park Ridge) Sectional. Have lost to the Spartans twice this season. Can the third time be a charm for the Titans?


23) New Trier (Winnetka) (26-7) (4A): Won Oak Park River Forest regional beating the host in the final. Sophomore point guard Chris Kirkpatrick dominated the proceedings in both games. Tuesday vs #17 Loyola Academy (Lisle) at Maine South (Park Ridge) Sectional. Beat the Ramblers by three at Thanksgiving Tournament.


24) Palatine (24-8) (4A): Won Conant (Hoffman Estates) Regional. Wednesday vs Lake Zurich at Elgin Sectional.


25) Riverside Brookfield (26-5) (4A): Season ended in Central (Hinsdale) Sectional final loss to Simeon Career Academy (Chicago).
