Brother Rice (Chicago) (13-0) (3A): Recliner boys had impressive victory over a good West (Aurora) team. Senior forward Zavier Fitch had a 20 points 20 rebounds 8 assists game that night. Hinsdale Central Holiday Tournament is next. Wednesday vs East (Plainfield)
2) Homewood Flossmoor (9-1) (4A): Idle this week getting ready for Big Dipper Holiday Tournament at Rich Township (Richton Park). Tuesday vs Eisenhower (Blue Island).
3) Thornton Township (Harvey) (8-1) (3A): Came back from 3 point deficit in last 16 seconds to beat previously undefeated Kankakee at home. Big Dipper Tournament at Rich Township (Richton Park) is next.
4) Curie (Chicago) (10-1) (4A): No problem with Crane Medical (Chicago). Top seed at Pontiac Holiday Tournament. Thursday vs St Rita (Chicago).
5) Benet Academy (Lisle) (11-0) (4A): Survived North (Naperville) in Overtime. Second seed at Pontiac Holiday Tournament. Thursday vs Lockport.
6) North (Downers Grove) (8-1) (4A): Idle last week getting ready for the Jack Tosh Holiday Tournament at York (Elmhurst). Tuesday vs Highland Park.
7) DePaul College Prep (Chicago) (11-0) (3A): Leads the state in scoring defense only allowing 27-5 points a game. Pack line defense is doing it's job. One of the favorites at Hinsdale Central Holiday Tournament. Wednesday vs Central (Lincoln Way).
8) Mount Carmel (Chicago) (12-2) (3A): Took over in fourth quarter to run away with win against Proviso East (Maywood) at Chicagoland Invitational at Whitney Young (Chicago). Favorite to defend title at Pekin Holiday Tournament. Wednesday vs Limestone (Bartonville).
9) Warren Township (Gurnee) (11-1) (4A): Blew out Marian Central Catholic (Woodstock) by over 30 points. Not at Pontiac anymore (wonder why?) but will make the Proviso West (Hillside) Holiday Tournament more spicy. Wednesday vs Perspectives Leadership (Chicago).
10) Kenwood Academy (Chicago) (7-2) (4A): Beat Central (East Chicago) as DePaul commit Chris Riddle had 33 points. Gets star freshman Devin Cleveland back in the fold at Proviso West (Hillside) Holiday Tournament. Wednesday vs Zion Benton.
11) Bolingbrook (8-1) (4A): Idle last week getting ready for Jack Tosh Holiday Tournament at York (Elmhurst). Tuesday vs Nazareth Academy (LaGrange).
12) Waubonsie Valley (Aurora) (10-0) (4A): Blew out Marian Central Catholic (Woodstock) in opening round. Should be the favorite at Hinkle Holiday Classic at Jacobs (Algonquin). Tuesday vs Grant Community (Fox Lake) in second round.
13) Glenbrook North (Northbrook) (11-1) (4A): Won in a couple of blowouts last week. Congrats to Owen Giannoulias for his commitment to Denison College. Congrats. Top seed at Wheeling Hardwood Classic. Wednesday vs Maine West (Des Plaines).
14) New Trier (Winnetka) (12-1) (4A): Blew out arch rival Evanston Township on the road. Showed they can attack the basket and score when their three point shots are not falling. Back at the Pontiac Holiday Tournament. Thursday vs Bloomington.
15) Lincoln Park (Chicago) (9-3) (4A): Lost at Wendell Phillips (Chicago) so dropped one spot. Did beat Latin (Chicago) at Chicagoland Invitational at Whitney Young (Chicago). Junior center Keshawn Barfield had a double/double in the game. Heads to Proviso West (Hillside) Holiday Tournament. Wednesday vs Longwood (Chicago).
16) Whitney Young (Chicago) (6-5) (4A): Beat Westside (Gary) at Central (East Chicago). Sophomore point guard Marquis Clark was game MVP. Heads to Proviso West (Hillside) Holiday Tournament. Wednesday vs Austin (Chicago).
17) Romeoville (10-1) (4A): Idle last week getting ready for State Farm Classic at Bloomington/Normal. Wednesday vs Mahomet-Seymour.
18) Riverside Brookfield (10-1) (4A):Beat Bremen (Midlothian) as senior Stefan Cicic had another double/double, and sophomore Cameron Mercer had another 20 point game. Headed to Jack Tosh Holiday Tournament at York (Elmhurst). Tuesday vs Minooka.
19) Bloom Township (Chicago Heights) (6-3) (4A): Idle getting ready for Pontiac Holiday Tournament. Thursday vs Danville.
20) Marist (Chicago) (10-2) (4A): Blew out Evergreen Park. Headed to Centralia Holiday Tournament. Thursday vs Cahokia.
21) Kankakee (9-1) (3A): Beat Centennial (Champaign), lost a heartbreaker at #3 Thornton Township (Harvey) with a 3 Pontiac lead late. Hosts their own holiday tournament. Should be favorite. Wednesday vs Schurz (Chicago).
22) Hyde Park Academy (Chicago) (8-2) (3A): New to the poll. Has only lost one game in state and undefeated with the Merritt twins back. Senior star wing Jurrell Baldwin is out with a foot issue. Will find out how severe on Tuesday and diagnosis is key to the rest of the season for Thunderbirds. Defending champ at Big Dipper Holiday Tournament at Rich Township (Richton Park). Tuesday vs Thornridge (Dolton).
23) Lindblom Math and Science Academy (9-4) (3A): Won two games this week. Heads to Kankakee Holiday Tournament with a possible finals matchup against host #21 Kankakee on the horizon. Wednesday vs Carver Military (Chicago).
24) Niles North (Skokie) (10-1) (4A): Took care of Highland Park. Heads to Hinsdale Central Holiday Tournament. Wednesday vs Morgan Park (Chicago).
25) Rich Township (Richton Park) (7-3) (4A): New to the poll. Senior Samar Bures, Victor Brown are leaders. Sophomore guard Jason Coulter is very talented. Hosts their annual Big Dipper Holiday Tournament. Tuesday vs Bremen (Midlothian).
