Big Tim's Top performers in New Years Classic 2024!!!

I'd like to thank Vince Carter and the Chicago Demons for inviting me out to the event at Whitney Young (Chicago). Good matchups and some surprising results. Rankings are at the time of the games. Here we go:




Crete Monee 71 North Lawndale (Chicago) 48

TOP PERFORMERS:


Jaydon Watts, 6'1" junior combo guard, Crete Monee: The jumping jack did a little bit of everything in this game. Got to the rim and finished almost had a poster dunk on one possession. Stat line was 25 points 4 rebounds 3 assists and 2 steals.




Zyheir Gardner, 6'0" sophomore point guard, Crete Monee: He was on fire in the first half hitting 6 of 7 threes mostly off catch and shoot (he actually hit 7 but one was waved off). Did not do much scoring wise in the second half but let the game come to him. It gave his teammates more room to get loose on offense. He showed ability to run the team from the point when needed. Stat line 22 points 5 rebounds 2 assists and 1 steal.




Tay'Shun Russell, 5'8" senior point guard, Crete Monee: Young man scored on threes and drives to the basket on the fast break. Hit the defensive glass with abandon for a smaller player. Stat line 15 points (3 threes) 5 rebounds 2 assists and 2 steals.


Jyaveion Green, 6'3" senior wing, Crete Monee: Did not score many points but set up teammates with perfectly timed assists hitting them right in their shooting pockets. Stat line 2 points 6 rebounds 7 assists 1 steal and 1 block.




Tyshun Moore, 6'3" senior combo guard, North Lawndale College Prep (Chicago): Under the radar college prospect attacked the defense and drew multiple fouls getting to the free throw line at least 8 times. Showed quick hands getting multiple steals. Stat line 17 points (6 free throws) 6 rebounds 1 assist 5 steals and 1 block.


Davarus Spann, 6'5" senior wing, North Lawndale College Prep (Chicago): This young man should be a college scholarship player. He showed he can play point in a pinch as he has great vision and made some spectacular passes in this game. A lot were not converted and his assist numbers should be higher. Stat line 12 points (5 free throws) 4 rebounds 4 assists 2 steals and 1 block.




Carlos Harris II, 6'0" senior point guard, Curie (Chicago): Illinois Chicago commit continues his spectacular season. Player of the year candidate scored in the post and the mid range. Stat line 16 points 4 rebounds and 3 assists.



Will Gonzalez, 6'5" senior combo guard, Curie (Chicago): Close to a double/double and scored most of his points from the free throw line. Stat line 13 points (8 free throws) 9 rebounds 2 assists and 1 steal.




Adam Walker, 6'10" junior center, Romeoville: He gets better each time out. Did some rim protecting in this game and scored on put backs on the glass. Stat line 11 points 9 rebounds and 4 blocks.




Aleks Alston, 6'9 junior wing, Kenwood Academy (Chicago): Serbian sniper showed it in this game. He was 5 for 5 from three point range and 9 for 10 from the field. Hit them mostly on catch and shoot opportunities as the lefty was on fire. Stat line 20 points 13 rebounds (double/double) 5 assists 1 steal and 1 block. Big time stat line.



Devin Cleveland, 6'2" freshman combo guard, Kenwood Academy (Chicago): He showed that Jaxson Davis is not the only fabulous freshman in that game. He showed his knockdown shooting ability from deep, crafty moves in the mid range, and finishing at the rim. Stat line 20 points (4 threes) 3 assists and 1 steal off the bench.





Calvin Robins Jr, 6'5" senior forward, Kenwood Academy (Chicago): Posted up deep in the paint and scored easily at the rim with his athleticism. Teammates gave him the ball when he posted up in the paint. Stat line 10 points 6 rebounds 1 assist and 1 block off the bench.



Jaden Smith, 6'11" senior center, Kenwood Academy (Chicago): Arizona State commit showed his elite rim protecting in this game. Filled the stat sheet in a variety of ways. Stat line 9 points 6 rebounds 2 assists 1 steal and 8 blocks.




Jaxson Davis, 6'1" freshman point guard, Warren Township (Gurnee): Did not shoot well but showed his cerebral play in making pin point passes to shooters. His shooters just couldn't hit the broad side of the barn in this game. Stat line 21 points 3 rebounds 1 assist and 4 steals.


Jaxson Coulter Jr, 6'2" sophomore point guard, Rich Township (Richton Park): His attacking game to the rim is elite. That is all that needs to be said there. He constantly got to the basket downhill and stressed the defense. Drew a lot of fouls and got to the free throw line constantly. Stat line 24 points (8 free throws) 4 rebounds 5 assists and 1 steal.




Victor Brown, 6'6" senior forward, Rich Township (Richton Park): This double/double machine got close to it in this game. Runs the floor well and attacks the basket when he gets the ball in the paint area. Stat line 11 points 9 rebounds 2 assists 2 steals and 2 blocks.




Antonio Munoz, 6'6" wing, Whitney Young (Chicago): Attacks the basket off the bounce at a high level. King of Bounce athlete had multiple blocked shots and made multiple trips to the free throw line. Stat line 18 points (8 free throws) 5 rebounds 1 assist 1 steal and 4 blocks.
