Bill Hensley Memorial Run N Slam Tidbits and Standouts 17U!!!!

Writer's picture: Big TimBig Tim

This was my first time coming to this event in Fort Wayne, IN. God willing I'll be going back for many years to come. One of the best run events I've been to since I started with this scouting service. There were teams from Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin and Kentucky. I had to go back and forth between venues, but none of them were more than 10 minutes away. I did not get to the Spiece Fieldhouse, which I've heard is a very historic place. I intend to get to the facility next season. Most of my time was at Turnstone which is the headquarters. Hotel was less than 10 minutes from Turnstone too very convenient. I only watched 17U and some 16U, I'll see the 15U's another time or when they get older. Here we go:

17U:

Full Package 2023 Black(IL): They have no one on their team with division one offers at the moment. They play like they do not care at this point. They are so connected as a team and play well off each other. They are independent with no shoe contract, but beat Indy Heat EYBL and Illinois Wolves UAA on the way to the title game. They lost to Midwest Basketball Club 3SSB or they would have had a trifecta of big time victories over each shoe company circuit team. They've also beaten the Mac Irvin Fire EYBL team a couple of weeks ago. I'll talk about some of their individual players in a bit. I had to make note of watching this team, and the bench was energetic and always up when a teammate made a big play. Full Package has players from all over the Chicago Area.

Jack Fiegen, Full Package 2023 Black(IL)- 6'4" combo guard was unconscious all weekend from the three point line. He had three separate games where he hit 8 three pointers in the game, including the title game. Just cannot leave him open behind the line. Young man should have offers from this weekend alone. Plays at New Trier(Winnetka) in North Suburbs.

Nikola Abusara, Full Package 2023 Black(IL)- 6'6" wing can jump out of the gym as he had multiple drive and dunks on defenders. He can also hit the three but is best at attacking off the dribble with a variety of Euro step moves and finishes. Plays at Benet Academy(Lisle) in Western Suburbs.

Mark Nikolitch-Wilson, Full Package 2023 Black(IL)- 6'8" forward may not look like a big time ball player, but he is. He can now step out and hit threes, as well as post up on the block with nice spin moves and finishes. Rebounds well on both ends of the court and has good hands to catch the ball in the post. Has added a drive game from the three point line with nice spins in the paint to score. Plays at Rolling Meadows in West Suburbs.

Aidyn Boone, Full Package 2023 Black(IL)- 6'5" forward is a little undersized but can hit the three and attack off the dribble and finish at the rim. Good rebounder and passer out of the post. Plays at Libertyville in North Suburbs.

Xavier Booker, George Hill All Indy 17U(IN)- 6'11' forward is more of a wing than a big man. He can post up on the block as the lefty has a nice jump hook over right shoulder. He also has a nice spin and two handed dunk in the post. Steps out and hits threes consistently along with a nice drive game off the dribble. Should be a consensus Top 100 player. A crime he's not as he's only in ESPN's rankings. Plays at Indianapolis Cathedral.

Garwey Dual, George Hill All Indy 17U(IN)- 6'4" point guard whom I was told to check out when I was in Milwaukee. Did not get a chance to, but made sure to do it this time. I'm so glad I did. Watching him screams Top 100 player in his class. He has a great wiggle and crossover to get him past defenders. He's a great finisher at the rim as he drove multiple times to finish with monster dunks. Nice pull-up mid range jumper in the paint area. He also creates for others with alley-oops, and kick out passes to three point shooters. He's good at blocking shots off the ball as he did it multiple times this weekend. I've seen point guards on the Nike EYBL Circuit, and he's as good as any of them. Plays at Carmel(IN).

Keyon Miller, George Hill All Indy 17U(IN)- 6'0" point guard is good on or off the ball. He's a knockdown catch and shoot three point shooter and very dangerous at that. He can also run a team and made some nice passes this weekend. Plays for Southport(Indianapolis)

Jeremy Fears Jr, Indy Heat EYBL 17U(IN)- 6'0" point guard and Michigan State commit is very dangerous attacking downhill as he almost brought his team back vs Full Package. Can get to the basket with either hand and finishes strong. He's also a good passer who set up teammates from threes all weekend. Plays for La Lumiere(IN).

Jermaine Coleman, Indy Heat EYBL 17U- 6'7" wing is a big time three point shooter and attacker off the bounce. He was consistent all weekend in both along with hitting the defensive boards. Plays for Park Tudor(Indianapolis).

Nathan Ruisch, Kingdom Hoops 17U(IA)- 6'5" wing had a strong game on Sunday vs Meanstreets with 12 points on 4 threes in the game. Nice catch and shoot three point shooter. Plays for Johnston(IA)

Cade Kelderman, Kingdom Hoops 17U(IA)- 6'1" point guard was giving Meanstreets a lot of problems with his drive and kick along with the 2 threes he hit. Ended up with 19 points. Plays for Wake Northwest(IA).

Darrin Ames, Mac Irvin Fire 17U EYBL(IL)- 6'2" point guard can get where he wants with jerky jerky dribbles, setback threes, and can get to the basket anytime he wants. Nice finisher at the rim now who will dunk on unsuspecting defenders. Plays for Kenwood Academy(Chicago).

Daniel Johnson, Meanstreets 17U EYBL(IL)- 6'7" guard looks recovered from an injury that kept him out most of the high school season. He had 19 points on Sunday in win over Kingdom Hoops. Scores in a variety of ways, on drives to the basket, and pull-up jumpers form mid range. Hit only one three pointer in this game. Prototypical wing. Plays for Whitney Young(Chicago).

Adam Ayrault, Meanstreets 17U EYBL(IL)- 6'4" guard can light it up from three. Had 4 of them in game in Sunday vs Kingdom Hoops. Hit them in a five minute stretch to keep Meanstreets in the game. Plays for Gross Pointe North(MI).

Richard Barron, Meanstrrets 17U EYBL(IL)- 6'6" wing can fill it up from three especially from the corners. Strong bodied guard who can finish off dribble penetration to the basket. Hit two threes in win on Sunday over Kingdom Hoops.

Gabe Cupps, Midwest Basketball Club 3SSB(OH)- 6'2" guard Indiana commit can score on all three levels. He can finish at the rim with either hand, has a nice two dribble pull-up from mid range. Hit more than a few threes this weekend in helping his team to the 17U Platinum Title. Plays for Centerville(OH).

Reed Sheppard, Midwest Basketball Club 3SSB(OH)- 6'4" point guard Kentucky commit is an exquisite passer with great vision. Finds his teammates from all angles of the court with nice deep passes into passing pocket for layups. Has a nice two dribble pull-up from mid range and is a good defensive rebounder for his position. He was very aggressive looking to score in 17U Platinum title game which his team won. Plays for North Laurel(KY).

Donovan Hunter, Midwest Basketball Club 3SSB(OH)- 6'8" wing can hit threes along with nice drives to the basket and finishing at the rim. He's a good rebounder and can play off the bounce or catch and shoot. Runs the floor well changing ends both offense and defense. Good shot blocker off help side. Helped his team to the 17U Platinum title. Plays for Westerville Central(OH).

Asa Thomas, Illinois Wolves 17U UAA(IL)- 6'7" wing is a big time knockdown three point shooter. Had multiple threes in every game they played. Averaged around 17 points a game this weekend and showed some off the dribble finishing at the rim. He should be a consensus Top 100 player nationally. Plays at Lake Forest in North Suburbs.

Cameron Christie, Illinois Wolves 17U UAA(IL)-6'7" guard has shown his catch and shoot three point ability all Spring. He hit a game winning lefty layup in one game and averaged 18 points a game for the weekend. He should be a consensus Top 100 player nationally. Plays at Rolling Meadows in West Suburbs.

Deandre Craig, Team FVV(IL)- 6'3" point guard is a terror on both ends of the court. Gets where he wants on the court with a nice first step and finishing with either hand at the rim. Improving three point shooter. Quick hands on defense gets steals and finishes in the open court. Plays for Mount Carmel(Chicago).

Ahmad Henderson II, Y and R(IL)- 5'10" point guard shows range on his jumper all weekend. Mostly catch and shoot opportunities against zone defenses. Averaged 20 a game in leading his team to the 17U Silver title.

Kaiden Space, Y and R(IL)- 6'1" guard played through cramps all weekend hitting threes and making big plays on both ends of the court. Team won 17U Silver Title.
