Big Tim's express made two stops today. First was Buffalo Grove and then over to St Viator(Arlington Heights).
BUFFALO GROVE:
#20 Glenbrook South 57 Grayslake Central 39. The Titans(3-0) cruised to victory behind senior forward Dom Martinelli's 26 points and his takeover in the 2nd half. He was helped by junior forward Justin Leszynski's 13 points and sophomore guard Cooper Noard's 7 points. Grayslake Central(0-3) was led by junior guard Amarion Coleman's 15 points.
Buffalo Grove 80 #17 Zion Benton 71. The hosts(2-0) pull the upset on their home floor. They were led by sophomore sensation Kam Craft with 30 points, 21 of them in the first half. He set the tone with hitting shots from all three levels on the court. He was supported by senior forward Nate Cole(22 points) and senior guard Matt Brunelli(14 points). Zion Benton(0-2) is knocked off for the second straight night. They were led by Damonte Taylor with 20 points. Three others reached double figures, senior guards Kaleb Naylor(14 points), Floyd Bailey(13 points) and Kent Shepard(12 points). Star junior forward Amar Auguillard was held to 6 points as he could not get a rhythm because of foul trouble.
ST VIATOR:
#9 Evanston 69 Conant(Schaumburg) 56. This was a tight game until the third quarter when Evanston(2-0) pull away as junior guard/forward Jaylin Gibson(17 points) took over in that quarter. Blake Peters, a junior guard had 17 of his 23 points in the first half. He also had 7 three pointers and 6 steals for the game. Notre Dame College Prep transfer junior guard Daeshawn Hemphill hit double figures with 10 points. Conant(0-3) was led by career highs in points(26) and rebounds(15) by junior Devon Ellis. Daniel Hong, a sophomore guard also reached double figures with 12 points.
#23 St Viator(Arlington Heights) 54 Prospect(Mount Prospect) 44. St Viator(2-0) controlled this game from start to finish. They started the game up 15-2 and controlled proceedings from there. Senior forward William and Mary commit Connor Kochera did not take over proceedings until the 2nd half with 18 of his 28 points in that stanza. He was helped by senior guard Michael Campagna's 6 points. Senior guard Matt Woloch was the game high scorer for Prospect(1-2) with 14 points.
