Chicago Elite Classic Day 1 standouts and news and notes from rest of the state!!!!!!

Writer: Big TimBig Tim

I was at the Chicago Elite Classic tonight watched 2 in a half games, missed first half of Lane Tech (Chicago) vs Taft (Chicago). Here we go:

Lane Tech (Chicago) 51 Taft (Chicago) 46. This North Side rivalry and Chicago Public League Red West/North foes went at it. Taft led most of the game, but Lane Tech got some separation in last minute of the game. Junior Shaheed Salebo had 15 points and 11 rebounds for a double/double, sophomore Dalton Scantleberry had 15 points 7 rebounds 5 blocks. Taft was led by Lyle Scibor 17 points 7 rebounds.

Fenwick (Oak Park) 64 Oak Park River Forest 60. This was one of the most competitive scrappy games I've seen in awhile. Bodies from both teams were on the floor either for loose balls, or knocked to the ground by the opponent. This is to be expected for the Battle of Oak Park. Ty Marcaiola decided things with two big buckets in the last minute of the game to give Fenwick separation and bragging rights for a year. He had 20 points. Junior wing Darshan Thomas followed with 18 points after being ill for a few days. Oak Park River Forest was led by sophomore Justin Bowen Jr with 16 points, senior Rodney Murphy matched him with 16, junior Max Johnson had 15 points.

#11 Benet Academy (Lisle) 58 #25 Riverside Brookfield 42. Benet led this game the whole way. Riverside Brookfield cut it to 10 a couple of times, but Benet would score a couple of baskets to keep them at bay. Senior guard Brady Kunka led with 20 points followed by senior wing Nikola Abusara with 15 points and a couple of dunks. Senior guard Winona State commit Arius Alijosius led Riverside Brookfield with 12 points.
