Corliss (Chicago) 54 Southland College Prep (Matteson) 45:

It was a tight game in first half and sophomore Tristan Garner of Southland College Prep had 11 points 5 steals in first half. He scored only 1 point on 2 shots in the second half as Corliss focused their defense on him to get the ball out of his hand. Southland College Prep led 14-9 at the end of one, and game was tied at 21 at recess. Corliss came out of the locker room and went on a 15-2 run before Southland College Prep called timeout, but Corliss led 36-29 at the end of three, went up double digits and kept that margin for the rest of the game. Junior Joshua Pegues of Corliss controlled tempo and attacked the rim when needed, and made some nice passes off penetration. Another freshman enters the chat as 6'4" forward Jayden Rhodes had a double/double. The lefty had some strong finishes at the rim and got to the free throw line. Corliss leads the Chicago Public League White South and ups it's record to 12-7, while Southland College Prep drops to 8-10 as they start 3 sophomores and 2 seniors, and play junior, junior, junior, freshman, and freshman off the bench.
