As I suspected IHSA has shifted Sectionals and Supersectional Assignments around after being the same the last two years. Seems like this is a two year cycle for this. Here's my take:
SPRINGFIELD (BANK OF SPRINGFIELD) Supersectional:
Beardstown Sectional:
Sub Sectional A:
Quincy Notre Dame is usually a pretty good team but this is an open sub sectional.
Sub Sectional B:
None of these have votes in AP Poll so another wide open sectional.
Canton Sectional:
Sub Sectional A:
Rock Ridge (Taylor Ridge) is favorite as they are ranked #1 in state by AP. Macomb is a dark horse.
Sub Sectional B:
Manaul (Peoria) is a slight favorite here though they are young, but look out for Notre Dame (Peoria).
JOLIET (CENTRAL) Supersectional:
The Supersectional winner here has produced 5 of the last 6 state champs. May not be the case this year.
Chicago (Corliss) Sectional:
Sub Sectional A:
Wendell Phillips (Chicago) is favorite here. North Lawndale (Chicago) is another contender in all Chicago Sub Sectional.
Sub Sectional B:
Open sectional with host Corliss (Chicago), Julian (Chicago), and Leo Catholic (Chicago) best bets here.
Clifton (Central) Sectional:
Sub Sectional A:
Look for Prairie Central (Fairbury) to be favorite here.
Sub Sectional B:
Look for Westmont, Manteno, Catholic Academy (Joliet) and Lisle here.
STERLING SUPERSECTIONAL:
Elmhurst (Timothy Christian) Sectional
Sub Sectional A:
IC Catholic (Elmhurst), host Timothy Christian (Elmhurst), and Montini (Lombard) favorites here.
Sub Sectional B:
Christ The King (Chicago) are heavy favorites here with Latin (Chicago) as dark horse.
Mendota Sectional
Sub Sectional A:
Open sub sectional.
Sub Sectional B:
Byron is favorite but look out for Christian (Rockford) and Lutheran (Rockford).
CARBONDALE (SIU) SUPERSECTIONAL:
Benton Sectional:
Sub Sectional A:
Breese Central and Trenton (Wesclin) are favorites here.
Sub Sectional B:
Benton is favorite here.
