Doubleheader Glenbrook North takes control of Central Suburban South, and Warren goes into Dog Pound and Escapes!! Top performances around the state!!!!

Crazy day for me. I was supposed to do a triple header but my car pretty much said no as repairs took longer than expected. So I had to cut to double header and go to a different place for my second destination. Here we go:

#18 Glenbrook North (Northbrook) 38 #12 New Trier (Winnetka) 34: Familiarity breeds contempt. These are Central Suburban South Division opponents. 9 of the 10 starters on the court play for Fundamental U club team. Teams know each others plays and individual players moves. I expected a low scoring contest and that's what we got. Teams combined to score 7 field goals the entire second half. Glenbrook North made a couple of plays more than New Trier. As a result they take control of the division race. Glenbrook North led 16-14 at the end of first quarter, and 26-22 at halftime. Glenbrook North still led 32-28 at the end of the third quarter. Fourth quarter Glenbrook North led by a margin of 2 to 8 points but not much offense at all as both teams scored 12 points the entire half. Lead was 36-34 when senior Logan Feller had a chance to tie at the rim, but was surrounded by thee players, put a shot up and missed with about 7 seconds left. Josh Fridman of Glenbrook North was fouled, hit two free throws for final margin. Senior Carnegie Melon commit Ian Brown led New Trier in scoring with 13 points on 3 threes and 5 rebounds. Feller, who's a Johns Hopkins commit had 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Glenbrook North ups it's record to 15-2, 5-0 in conference, while New Trier drops to 15-3, 3-1 in conference.

Josh Fridman, 6'0" senior point guard, Glenbrook North (Northbrook): Welcome back young fella. He has played well since coming back in November, but first time I've seen him play since February 2023, the same month he tore his ACL. Back with a vengeance and a high quality of play. He had 17 points (8 free throws) 4 rebounds and 3 assists.

Owen Giannoulias, 6'0" senior combo guard, Glenbrook North (Northbrook): He did a great job of holding the fort with his scoring, defense, leadership, and rebounding when Fridman was out. He had 9 points 6 rebounds 1 steal in the game.

t#6 Warren Township (Gurnee) 66 Waukegan 59: I was not supposed to be in the Dog Pound tonight for this North Suburban showdown, but other circumstances explained above brought me here. I'll try to see Waubonsie Valley (Aurora) next week. Dog pound was packed to the gills, just like it used to be. When it's like this it's the best atmosphere in the Chicago Area. Warren has sensational freshman Jaxson Davis, who took over in a part of the fourth quarter that gave his team separation. He has though some very good teammates. You never know who's going to come support Davis. Tonight it was Immanuel Brown who scored most of his points in the first half. Second half others chipped in till Davis took over. Warren led wire to wire, with a 19-10 at end of first quarter, 31-17 at half, and 42-33 at end of three. Warren led by 18 at one point, but Waukegan upped the pressure of it's defense and cut it to 53-51 with about 4 minutes left in the game. Then Davis took over scoring 10 of Warren's 12 points in the stretch while Waukegan only scored 2 in that 2 minute stretch. Game over. Waukegan received a magical performance from senior Nehemiah Dunn who had a game high 25 points (9 free throws, 4 threes) 8 rebounds 3 assists 2 steals and 2 blocks. Sophomore guard Carter Newsome showed he's a force to be reckoned with. Did a decent job defending Davis, and had 14 points (4 threes) 2 rebounds 2 assists and 3 steals. Warren ups it's record to 16-1 (14 straight), 4-0 in conference, while Waukegan drops to 11-5, 2-3 in conference.

Jaxson Davis, 6'1" freshman point guard, Warren Township (Gurnee): What more is there to say? He had 2 three pointers roll in and out, and a mid range baseline runner, which he usually hits roll in and out. Still put some ink on that stat sheet as usual in a number of ways. He had 21 points (14 in second half, 10 in a two minute stretch of fourth quarter to take over the game) 7 rebounds 4 assists 2 steals 2 blocks.

Immanuel Brown, 6'4" senior wing, Warren Township (Gurnee): He carried his team offensively in the first half. He had 16 points (12 in first half) 2 rebounds.

Braylon Walker, 6'2" sophomore combo guard, Warren Township (Gurnee): Did a little bit of everything tonight. He had 10 points 5 rebounds 6 assists 3 steals.
