Evanston Township is hard to beat when they are moving the ball and scoring from a number of spots on the floor. Playersd have stepped up after losing a lot of experience from last years Class 4A third place finisher. Here we go:
Evanston Township 80 Niles North (Skokie) 64:
Evanston runs a dribble drive offense, penetrate and kick to three point shooters, or they try to get layups. They hit a high percentage from three tonight, as well as repeatedly scoring layups on backdoor cuts helped by a lot of off the ball back screens. Niles North never adjusted to this the entire night, and it helped the Wildkits maintain control mosrt of the night. They led most of the game starting with 22-14 at end of first quarter, 39-34 at recess, and a 7-0 run to start the third quarter put them in control. Outscored Niles North 20-15 in the third quarter for a 59-49 lead going into the fourth quarter. Put it away with an 8-2 run to start the quarter and put it away. Not much defense played by either team in this game, but Evanston's hot shooting kept them in control. Tate Schroeder was on fire only missing two shots the entire game. Vito Rocca had a double/double filling the stat sheet. Did a good job of limiting the penetration of senior Rayne Punzal who only had 2 points on 2 free throws.
Evanston Township ups it's record to 14-3, Niles North (Skokie) drops to 13-5.
