Gibault Catholic wins first Class 1A State Title ending Scales Mound’s Cinderella run!!!!!!

Gibault Catholic (Waterloo) 65 Scales Mound 45:


First game of the day saw Kameron Hanvey (5'10 senior point guard) and his teammates become legends in the Southern Illinois town of Waterloo. He became one himself for hitting a three pointer at the buzzer in Supersectional to beat Illini Bluff. Today they all became legends winning the state title. Star senior guard Kaden Augustine (6'1" senior guard) had 24 points on 9 for 11 shooting and 3 rebounds. Gibault Catholic led the entire game. Scales Mound was behind at halftime for the second consecutive game but could not come back. The school of 70 students made a great run. Hudson Black (6'1" junior forward) had 15 points for the winners and Gavin Kesler had 18 points 7 rebounds and 3 blocks. Hanvey had 4 points 5 rebounds 9 assists and 5 steals. Scales Mound was led by Thomas Hereau (6'2" junior guard) had 24 points and 4 rebounds. He was the only player in double figures.



Gibault Catholic (Waterloo) ends season at 31-7 with a championship. Scales Mound ends season at 32-6 and runners-up.
