I've been to three spring events besides the Recruit Look Event I wrote about a few weeks ago. Prep Hoops has had two events, and Made Hoops Midwest Mania. Here we go:

AYO DOS ELITE 15U:

A relatively new progam started up by Chicago Bull Ayo Dosumnu has three outstanding small guards that make them go. Jaivyn Richardson (5'8" Whitney Young (Chicago)), Nigel Moore (5'10" Peoria), Eze Nwagwu (5'9" St Rita (Chicago)). All can score at three levels of the court, can get where they want off the dribble.

Richardson has nice dribble moves to get off his shot with floaters, long range step back threes, hits them off the catch, and can finish at the rim with either hand.

Moore has a big time lefty stroke from three, and a nice mid range floater, uses up and under moves to score at the rim.

Nwagwu is very shifty with his dribble to get by defenders and score on up and unders at the rim. Hits threes off the driblle or off the catch.

I saw them play at Prep Hoops Chi-Town Tipoff in Romeoville and Made Hoops Midwest Mania at Wintrust Complex.

TYLER HERRO 16U HAS A GOOD SHOT AT MAKING THE NIKE EYBL PEACH JAM:

This team based out of Milwaukee, WI has size all over the court, at the guard positions all the way to center. They are long, athletic, move well up and down the court. Saw them at the Prep Hoops Windy City War event at Batavia High School.

DOONEY JOHNSON, 6'5" point guard, JUNEAU (MILWAUKEE): Ranked 19th nationally by 247 Sports, 27th in the composite is a long lanky point guard who can score at every level of the court. He can get to any shot he wants off the dribble and make good passes, specifically off the dribble. Certified bucket getter.

DONOVAN DAVIS, 6'7" forward, FREEDOM (KAUKAUNA,WI): Ranked 41st nationally by 247 Sports, no composite ranking is a versatile forward, who's explosive in getting to the basket and finishing with dunks. Tough in the mid range and hits the glass on both ends at a high level.

DEUCE MCDUFFIE, 6'6" combo guard, RUFUS KING (MILWAUKEE): Good size and skill for his position. Athletic who can slash to the rim and finish as well as hit the three point shot. Finishes at the rim with nasty two hand dunks, and can play from the dunk position. Defends every perimeter position.

JACK KOHNEN, 6'5" wing, SLINGER (WI): Plays with power off the dribble and finishes at the rim through contact. Hits the glass on both ends at a high level. Can also back you down with his strength and shoot over defenders in the mid range. Good passer out of the post and can step out and hit threes.

BOL BOL BOL WUNROK, 6'10" forward, ST JOHNS NORTHWESTERN ACADEMY DME (WI): Young man has only been playing basketball for nine months. From the South Sudan is a rim protector in the paint, can take players off the dribble, and hit threes off the wing. Verstile two end monster that hits the glass at a high level.

KAGER KNUEPPEL, 6'8" wing, WISCONSIN LUTHERAN: Second of five basketball playing brothers. Older brother Kon is a projected lottery pick in this years NBA Draft. Kager is a versatile wing who can knock down threes off the catch or off the bounce. Attacks the rim off the bounce from perimeter or off the break and finishes at the rim.

KEVON LOONEY POWER 5 17U ADIDAS 3SSB IS THE HARDEST PLAYING SHOE COMANY TEAM IN THE BUSINESS:

Based out of Milwaukee, WI. They play four guards most of the time. Top point guard Nasir Rankin, two sport star from Morgan Park (Chicago) did not play this weekend. They play hard, use their quickness to beat bigger teams on the glass, pressures perimeter players to get steals and layups. I saw them play at the Prep Hoops Windy City War event.

LAMONT "DOODIE" HAMILTON, 6'0" point guard, ST CATHERINE (RACINE,WI): Won a state title in football as a wide receiver/defensive back. On the hardwood the lefty can get to the rim and finish in a number of ways. He hits threes to keep defenses honest, has a nice first step, quick athletic getting to the rim. Defends at a high level on and off the ball.

KEVON LOONEY POWER 5 16U HAS SOME GOOD PLAYERS:

EAST PEORIA COMBO HAS HAD A GREAT SPRING PLAYING ON DIFFERENT TRAVEL TEAMS:

Class of 2027 combo of Cole Dubois and Quinton Kitt have performed well playing for Elavate UAA and Meanstreets Nike EYBL respectively for their 16U teams. Both are 1000 point scorers already for their high school teams. Dubois (5'10" point guard) has had some big scoring performances with a 35 point guard against Nike EYBL power PSA Cardinals (NY). Kitt (6'6" wing) has shown elite three level scoring, hitting threes, step back mid range jumpers (of the one leg variety), and some nasty two hand dunks at the rim. If they can get a third scorer, East Peoria may contende for Class 3A state title the next two seasons. Both have a chance to be Division One prospects.
