Some of the players from the Class 4A Championship team from last season were in the house tonight. They are home from college or prep school for a few days. Mr Basketball Braden Huff from Gonzaga, Ryan Renfro from Army, and Bobby Durkin from IMG Academy. They were here supporting former teammates. A new era here at Glenbard West, the bench crew from last year who had the unique moves and cheers from the bench are on the court now. Alas they showed tonight they are more than cheerleaders, they can actually play some good basketball as they did tonight. Matter of fact they have most of the early season. Here we go:
Glenbard West (Glen Ellyn) 59 Burlington Central (Hampshire) 45: I made it to the gym a little late but the score was only 2-2 so had not missed much. The Hilltoppers controlled this game for the most part. They led 15-9 after one, 28-18 at halftime, 42-32 after three. Senior point guard Benji Zander (5'11") controlled the tempo of this game. He's a very good floor general who had 7 points 4 rebounds 5 assists 6 steals and 1 block for Glenbard West. They were led by senior guard Luuk Dusek (6'0") with 24 points on 4-6 from three and 2 steals. Senior forward Haverford commit Logan Brown (6'6') had 11 points 6 rebounds 2 assists 1 steal. Sophomore wing Dominic Seaney (6'6") was in double figures with 11 points. Burlington Central was led by senior wing Belmont commit Drew Scharnowski with 26 points 8 rebounds 2 steals and 4 blocks. Glenbard West (Glen Ellyn) ups it's record to 6-2 while Burlington Central (Hampshire) drops to 7-3.
Note: Benet Academy (Lisle) went 3-0 in Arizona. Did not play a 4th game because they are trying to get home before snowstorm.
