Big Tim's express made stops at Hinkle Holiday Classic at Jacobs (Algonqiuin) and Elgin Holiday Tournament. First trip for me to both events to start holiday tournament season. Here we go:

Cary Grove controls the game and wins over Mundelein with senior Adam Bauer (#22) in foul trouble as senior AJ Berndt (#2) controls the second half with scoring and assisting. Brother Brady Bauer (#24) stepped up and took up the slack.

Senior AJ Bendt had 13 points 4 assists 3 steals

Senior Brady Bauer had 10 points 1 steal

Senior Adam Bauer had 10 points 1 steal

Mundelein was led by junior Carson Koenigsknecht with 7 points 1 steal

Best first round games I've seen at a holiday tournament in years. They did a good job of seeding these teams. Had a buzzer beater and an overtime game.

North (Naperville) has shown they could be a Top 25 team in the area. Had 4 players give top performances and shot the ball well from three vs Johnsburg. Shot 10/24 from three in the game.

Senior Carson Loughlin (#1) had 20 points and 1 steal

Junior Jack Zitko (#12) had 19 points and 4 steals

Senior Max Steele (#5) had 10 points 7 rebounds 6 assists and 1 steal

Senior Miles Okyne (#4) had 5 points 4 rebounds 8 assists

NOTE: They are in the semifinals of the tournament at 12-2.

Junior Ben Newcomb's double/double leads Lakes (Lake Villa) to a win over Boylan Catholic (Rockford). Junior point guard Dorian Pullen (#3) breaks single game assists record with 13. Added 2 steals.

Ben Newcomb (#22) had 27 points 10 rebounds 5 assists 1 steal 1 block

Senior Aidan Hopkins (#12) had a double/double of 15 points 12 rebounds 2 steals

Junior Carter Martin (#5) 20 points

Newcomb is a tough inside/out force who can score from three, on attacks to the rim, and posting up on the block.

Boylan Catholic (Rockford)"s leaders were senior Christian Kennedy (#32) with 18 points 10 rebounds (double/double) 6 assists and 1 steal and junior Alex Ambrose (#21) with 16 points.

Geneva wins on buzzer beating layup by junior Ben Peterson (#32) on pass from senior Gabe Jensen (#2) with 1.5 seconds left for a win over a tough Prairie Ridge (Crystal Lake) team who made some great passes big to big vs Geneva's zone.

Jensen had 12 points 3 assists 2 steals.

Senior Nathan Palmer had 15 points 4 rebounds 3 assists

Junior David Udolwod came off the bench to score 14 points (9/10 FT) 2 steals

Freshman guard Cody Rader (#10) was not in the program but is used at this point to shoot corner threes. Started this game and first shot was an airball, but he kept shooting the ball when he had opportunities. Went 1/5 from three not afraid to shoot it. Future is at point guard for the program.

Prairie Ridge gave a great effort with their two big's senior Elijah Loeding (#11) and senior Maddon McKim (#33). Loeding (6'5" forward) is a great small college prospect.

Loeding had 16 points 4 assists 1 steal

McKim had 14 points 7 rebounds

Grant Community has 5 players in double figures but loses to Barrington in overtime.

Senior Jayden Smith 13 points 13 rebounds (double/double) scored game tying layup at the regulation buzzer to send game into overtime.

Senior Damarrion Smith 17 points 5 rebounds 1 steal 1 block

Senior Noah McMath 15 points 5 rebounds 1 steal

Junior DJ Stitts 16 points 3 steals

Junior Charles Schlicht 16 points 6 rebounds 4 steals 1 block

Barrington got the win with 3 players in double figures. Senior Oliver Gray (#10) who's a King of Bounce three level scorer, senior Evan Shechtman, and junior Jackson Roberts (#2).

Gray 27 points 4 rebounds 1 steal

Roberts 24 points 5 rebounds 6 assists 2 steals

Larkin (Elgin) won an up and down battle with a lot of transtion baskets on both ends.

Senior 5'6" point guard Jayden Bailey was wearing #24 but showed #11 in the program. He had 16 points 2 steals and controlled tempo the entire game.

Senior Jahvion Sowers 22 points 6 rebounds 5 steals 1 block

Senior Lawrence Sallis 10 points 2 steals

Senior Mac Irvin III (#21) 9 points 10 rebounds

Jacobs (Algonquin) was led by junior Elijah Bell (#13) who scored his 1000th point in this tournament. Had 28 points 8 rebounds 4 steals. Freshman Malachi Bell (#3) had 4 points and 6 rebounds.

South (Crystal Lake) junior laden team takes over game in third quarter to beat Central (Grayslake).

Run to take over game started with a two hand tomahawk dunk on unsuspecting victim for Central (Grayslake) (WATCH YOUR HEAD). Junior Nick Stowasser (#22) of South (Crystal Lake) gets steal, takes it to the rim, and gets the dunk over defender, then seconds later antoher steal and another two hand dunk. South (Crystal Lake) cruises from there for win.

Stowasser had 25 points 6 rebounds 3 steals and 1 block

Junior Illinois baseball commit Carson Trivellini (#5) had 13 points on some nasty two dribble mid range pull-up jumpers. Added 7 assists

Junior Noah Cook had 8 points 8 rebounds 1 steal 1 block

Benet Academy (Lisle) jumps out quickly on Bartlett 46-5 at half and cruised from there. Starters played a little over one quarter and reserves took over.
