Hinsdale Central Holiday Preview 2024!!!!!

Writer's picture: Big TimBig Tim

The tournament is quality with Joe Spagnola running the event for the last few years. They lost a big fish with DePaul College Prep (Chicago) going to Pontiac. It still has some very good teams and will be competitive. Here we go:

FAVORITE: Brother Rice (Chicago): They are undefeated and come to the tournament on a roll. Undefeated and off a big win over Bolingbrook. Citadel commit senior Marcos Gonzales is making a run for Player of The Year. Senior Jack Weigus has been great scoring support for Gonzales. Senior Caden Workman does a little bit of everything for the team. Senior KJ Morris is a very good role player. Recliner boys looking to take the title.

SECOND FAVORITE: Niles North (Skokie): Senior laden team with multiple three to four year varsity players. They are undefeated since getting senior Yaris Irby back into the lineup. He can create for himself as well as others. Senior Reid Olson is a knockdown shooter from deep behind the three point line. Senior Dylan Lam is a nice catch and shoot player from the three point line. Senior Hunter Gawron is a double/double machine in the paint as well as rim protector. Can hit the mid range jumper.

DARK HORSE: Hinsdale Central: The host team is a dangerous threat. South Dakota commit senior Vincas Buzelis is an explosive athlete who attacks the rim with force. Senior point guard Dillon Orozco runs the offense. They have twin bigs inside with 3 year starter Tyler Thick and Michael Howell. Senior Dillon Dell is a knockdown three point shooter. You can find out more about the team here:

UNKNOWN QUANTITY: Lane Tech College Prep (Chicago): They have size and outside shooting. Started the season ranked but have taken some tough losses lately. Penn commit senior Dalton Scantlebury is a double/double force on the interior. Senior Zach Mazanowski has played well as a big wing who can score from outside and attacking the paint. Senior point guard Brayden Rosenkrantz needs help handling pressure from other teams. Junior Matthew Szafoni is another big talented wing. If they put it together could win the tournament.

East (Oswego): Need to give junior star Mason Lockett IV some help offensively and on the glass.
