Hinsdale Central Holiday Tournament Quarterfinals!!!! News and notes!!!!

I covered the two night quarterfinals. Here we go:



Marian Catholic (Chicago Heights) 54 Auburn (Rockford) 49: Auburn came out firing as they led after one quarter 19-12 off five threes two by senior guard Adrian Agee (17 points) and two by junior guard Rakim Chaney (13points). Marian Catholic picked it up in the second quarter and closed down on the three point shooters and a nice scoring run by senior guard Donovan Juzang (17 points) to lead 31-26 at half. The Spartans maintained control of the game having a 5-12 point lead most of the game. Senior guard Cal Poly commit Quentin Jones was everywhere with a double/double 22 points 10 rebounds 5 assists and 3 blocks. They led 48-32 after three quarters then Auburn made a run and cut it to the five point final margin. Marian Catholic (Chicago Heights) runs it's record to 9-4 and advances to a semifinal date with host Hinsdale Central. Auburn (Rockford) drops to 10-4 into the fifth place bracket against Homewood Flossmoor.


Hinsdale Central 69 Homewood Flossmoor 59: The hosts controlled the game and tempo the entire contest. They led 15-9 after one quarter, 31-21 at half, and 46-35 after three quarters. Homewood Flossmoor did cut the lead to 7 in the fourth quarter but the Red Devils made their free throws down the stretch to secure the victory. Great team play by Hinsdale Central with a lot of ball movement and high percentage shots throughout the game. Four players had at least 6 rebounds led by senior wing Chase Collignon and senior guard Patrick Graham with 8 rebounds each. Hinsdale Central was led by senior wing Ben Oosterbaan with 25 points 6 rebounds and 2 blocks. Graham also had 15 points. Homewood Flossmoor was led by junior guard Carson Brownfield with 25 points 8 rebounds. He was helped by sophomore guard Jayden Tyler with 14 points. Hinsdale Central runs it record to 10-3 and advances to semifinals to face Marian Catholic (Chicago Heights). Homewood Flossmoor drops to 7-5 into the fifth place bracket against Auburn (Rockford).

Class of 2023 point guard Kansas State commit Darrin Ames had a Proviso West Holiday tournament record 65 points against Southland Prep in first round action.
