I was out in Glenview to see a girl high school basketball game. That’s right had to support the young ladies at least once this season. Quality basketball in both tilts. Here we go:
Loyola Academy(Wilmette) 51 Glenbrook South(Glenview) 34: Top seed Ramblers led all the way in this one over the hosts. Didn’t get the numbers on this one.
Maine South(Park Ridge) 43 Evanston Township 41: Maine South wins on a layup by freshman Caitlin Leyden at the buzzer on a ball that was blocked right to her. Evanston junior center Ciara Gentile blocked Maine South sophomore Megan Fahy’s shot right to Leyden who laid it in. Fahy will say it was a pass(lol). Evanston had the ball with 20.9 seconds left but turned it over with 9.9 seconds left setting up the last sequence. Cornell commit Emily Pape scored her 1000th point tonight. Pape had 18 points 4 rebounds and 3 steals for the winners. Leyden had 11 rebounds, Fahy had 11 points 6 rebounds 3 assists and 3 steals. Gentile had a triple double for Evanston 12 points 15 rebounds 12 blocks 2 steals. Sophomore Kailey Starks had a game high 21 points 5 rebounds and 2 steals for Evanston. Maine South moves onto Sectional Final against top seed Loyola Academy.
