Class of 2020 6’2” combo guard Jamal Mashburn Jr of Brewster Academy(NH) will announce his college decision on October 14th. He’s down to two schools: California and Minnesota. California offers great academics and good basketball in the Pac 12. Minnesota offers good basketball and pretty good academics but not the caliber of California. Minnesota has an ace in the hole: Richard Pitino as Head Coach. Jamal Mashburn Sr played at Kentucky for Rick Pitino, Richard’s Dad. I believe that previous relationship will win out in the end and Mashburn Jr will pick the Golden Gophers. He played for PSA Cardinals(NY) on the Nike EYBL Circuit and lit up the Peach Jam Finals. He averaged over 20 points a game on 48% shooting from three point range. We will know for sure late next week so stay tuned.
