Terrence Clarke 6'7" 180 pound wing Brewster Academy, Wolfboro,NH by way of Boston, MA.
A McDonald's All-American, Terrence Clarke played on the Prep School(5th year team) at Brewster Academy. I'll go into his strengths and weaknesses and how they affect Kentucky. He played for Expressions Elite(MA) on the Nike EYBL Circuit.
STRENGTHS: Versatility. He can easily play point guard through small forward at the college level. He's a good outside shooter from three point range as well as mid range. He can guard three positions on the court. Good finisher at the basket on Euro steps, step arounds, hang time in mid air, and dunking on someone's head. Has a knack for finishing at the basket in a variety of ways. Good ball handler with either hand, good vision as a passer, can find people in traffic, and run an offense. He has a nice crossover pull up jumper from three to get space for his shot. He also uses it to get to the basket going either right or left. Clarke has a nice first step to get by defenders to pressure the defense. Nice step back jumper, can score off the catch and shoot as well as off the dribble. Good two dribble pull up jumper. Makes good decisions when he gets into the lane. Nice vision to make good passes to teammates. Good leader. Good at attacking the basket from the wing or from top of the key. Good rebounder for his position. Good pick and roll partner can read what to do off of it very well. Grades very high on toughness.
WEAKNESSES: Needs to get stronger. He sometimes tries to make the spectacular play which results in turnovers. He needs to get better with his left hand, and work on a quicker release on his jump shot. Needs to become a better defender as he has the ability to be a defensive stopper. Has to pay more attention with his off the ball defense. Needs to be more aggressive in asserting his authority into the game. This means he can float through games sometimes. Is good off pick and roll but sometimes goes too quick causing the picker to get a foul called on him.
CONCLUSION: Not a lot of weaknesses for Clarke. I feel those are easy to clean up at Kentucky. The biggest thing is he needs to get stronger, and improve his three point shooting. Otherwise it's just a matter of him getting used to the college game. He has played against 5th year players at Brewster Academy for two years, hence he's used to playing against older players. He can cause havoc as a defender able to guard all the perimeter positions. He can play point guard for long stretches if needed. To me he's the best prospect in this Kentucky class coming in. Look for him to come in and be the best player on the team and one of the leaders. Welcome to Big Blue Nation, Terrence Clarke.
