To add was told Muchin's Head Coach was fired yesterday, reason unknown. Lake View (Chicago) and King College Prep (Chicago) will play each other for the IHSA Class 3A Regional Title. Lake View (Chicago) tries to make history winning first regional in schools over 100 year history. Top performances in the state tonight as well.
Lake View (Chicago) 57 Intrinsic Downtown (Chicago) 54 Overtime:
FOSCO PARK DISTRICT:
Lake View's dynamic wing duo of senior Ledarrel Goss-El, and junior Tysean Davis brought this home for The View. Big buckets and free throws down the stretch helped them advance. Game started slow in scoring as Intrinsic led 15-8 at the end of the first quarter, but only scored 2 points in the second quarter as Carter had trouble finishing at the rim, and missed all 3 of his three point attempts for the half. Intrinsic still led 17-16 at recess. Scoring picked up by both teams in the third quarter as both converted turnovers into baskets. Lake View led 35-32 at the end of the third quarter and had a 48-45 lead after two free throws by Goss with 11 seconds left in regulation. Instrinsic came down and got the ball to Carter, who dribbled to the wing and hit a fadeaway three point shot with 1.4 seconds left. Goss had a shot from three from across half court that wasn't close. Overtime. Key play in the overtime games was tied at 50, and Goss El was fouled driving to the rim with about 50 seconds left by junior Abeedeen Yusulf, then Yusulf said something to the ref. Technical foul. Goss El hit 3 of the 4 free throws for a 53-50 lead. Carter then was fouled on a drive and hit both free throws to cut it to 1. Lake View's senior Javarius Allen hit 2 free throws for a 55-52 lead. Carter then drives for a Euro step basket to cut it to 55-54 with 16 seconds left. Timeout Instrinsic, but there's controversy. Lake View Head Coach Todd Patterson thought Intrinsic was out of timeouts, but they had one more. Lake View takes it out but ball is stolen by junior Antione Lavender of Intrinsic, but he was tied up right away. Lake View ball. Davis was fouled and hit two free throws with 6 seconds left. Instrinsic inbounds the ball but Carter is called for traveling (questionable to me) with 4.1 seconds left. Lake View inbounds to senior Sire Beckham who dribbles the time out for a huge win.
Lake View (Chicago) ups it's record to 15-12 and advances to IHSA Class 3A Regional Final. Intrinsic Downtown (Chicago) ends season at 19-12 one of the best season's in their school history.
