MacArthur (Decatur) has not lost to an Illinois opponent, has only one loss all season. Methodical tonight after a slow start to blow game wide open, Four starters in double figures. Adin Smajlovic of Mather (Chicago) explodes with a 44 piece extra crispy tonight. Braden Coplan of West Prarie (Sciota) had a 46 piece extra crispy. Here we go:

MacArthur (Decatur) 77 Lanphier (Springfield) 51:

MacArthur got off to a slow start in this league game. Lot of teams are playing out the string with just over a week to go before regular season is over. They've won the league title, but this was still a big game as they may play them in a Class 3A regional final in a few weeks on their home court. Lanphier got out to a 9-2 lead early in the first quarter. MacArthur put it away after that getting a comfortable lead late first into second quarter with a 20-3 run. First quarter ended with MacArthur having a 12-11 lead. They led at recess 33-19 and lead only got down to as low as 13 as Clemmons (#1) controlled the tempo and played both ends. His shot was off tonight 2/4 2PT and 1/9 from three., but his quickness and change of pace dribble got him wherever he wants. He created for his teammates with nice passes, most becamse assists, and a few were missed opportunities. Senior Sean Lee (#5) has not been 100% all season but pushing through and had a double/double tonight. This team has quickeness with their hands, getting where they want off the dribble, and some three point shooters. They are small guards but they make teams play very fast. MacArthur had 17 steals tonight and forced 25 turnovers. Seniors Kymir Carson (#4) along with Clemmons are both under 6'0" tall, but play tall on the court. Sophmore wing Kendall Howell is the future for the Generals. Had some strong finishes at the rim and hit his only three he attempted. They'll need his size on the glass to compete in the state playoffs, especially if they have the Class 3A Bank of Springfield Center Supersectional showdown with East St Louis and 6'8" forward Penn State commit Jameson White. One last thing, those guards help alot on the defensive glass and still change ends well on the break.

MacArthur (Decatur) ups it's record to 28-1, while Lanphier (Springfield) drops to 12-16.
